Friendly and accommodating hotel and staff

Posted Jan 28, 2015
Pros: The size of the hotel is small enough that there are no lines, no waiting to eat or drink. Plenty of access to beach chairs which is always nice.
Cons: The food is a little bland and predictable. Maybe switch it up at night and have a "specialty" meal to go with the standard options.
Location: Obviously the beach is close by which is a must. Hotel is only a couple of blocks off of 5th Street which is a very entertaining outdoor walking mall
This was our second vacation at the Gran Porto Real Resort and we enjoyed our staying again. The hotel staff is friendly and accommodating. Check in was quick, easy and ahead of the scheduled time allowing us to begin our "vacation" immediately. The hotel is small enough to offer exceptional service without the crowded feel of some of the larger hotels. Room was clean, well maintained and convenient to the hotel activities.

nice physical plant, but the food could improve.

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: Excellent polite staff, very clean.
Cons: Less noise at the pool.
Location: Excellent scuba diving in the Cenotes, and near Cozumel.
Way too noisy at the pool. An announcer was always on a microphone yell about something - not relaxing.

50th birthday party

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: Close to town , lots of interesting people to chat with on the beach
Cons: Better pricing
Location: lots of clubs, shopping, LOVED it.
The hotel was really really nice, beautiful, staff attentive. Loved being close to downtown. I believed it was more expensive than the other more secluded hotels but I think it was worth being close to "life".

Beautiful Views, fantastic location

Posted Jan 25, 2015
Gran Porto has the nicest staff, wondeful rooms with great views. It is centrally located on the beach and only a 5 min walk to 5th Ave where the shopping is fantastic. The Italian restaurant which is included in the all inclusive has wonderful food. The others are just ok. Everything you need is at the hotel including booking of excursions.

Great hotel, awesome stay!

Posted Jan 24, 2015
Pros: The staff and the food.
Cons: The room service should be more standardized so that guests know the schedule time for room cleaning.
Location: The location was perfect. Right in all the action and accessible to lots of attractions.
Our stay here was very comfortable and enjoyable. The staff are very professional, friendly, and helpful. The food was very good and vegetarian friendly. The rooms were very clean. Our beds weren't overly comfortable because they were a little on the hard side. But, if you like hard beds then you'll be fine. Overall, great experience! Would definitely return.

Family Vacation

Posted Jan 21, 2015
Pros: We love the food in the 24 hour room. Always fresh and yummy! The restaurants are great and we typically upgrade to beachfront to use the Royal also.
Cons: Just the beach
Location: The location is perfect with a 2 block walk to 5th Ave with shops and bars and many nice restaurants.
We always love this hotel. The food great, the staff is amazing and so convenient to walk to 5th Ave. The only problem is that they have a constant battle with the beach erosion. The beach is not the nicest beach and to be honest on this trip it was quite stinking from the sea weed. The pool is awesome though so that makes up for it.

This resort was great! Would stay here again!

Posted Jan 20, 2015
Overall had a great experience at this hotel. Staff was very nice and service was fast. Food was good as well. As for the rooms it wasn't as nice as in the pictures. Maybe because I had a partial ocean view room but it was still comfortable. The location is awesome as well. Really close to all the shops on 5th ave! I would definitely stay here again!

Not a very relaxing atmosphere

Posted Jan 18, 2015
Pros: The staff was awesome and the food was pretty good.
Cons: The beds could be a lot more comfortable and the linens softer.
Location: There are lots of fun excursions and 5th Avenue is fun to walk down if you can handle the noise & the pressure of people trying to sell you something.
This hotel was just average but the real issue was it's closeness to Playa Del Carmen's 5th Avenue. The noise from the bars and clubs was unrelenting, going on 24/7! Even in our room with the doors closed you could hear the thrumming of the bass from the music. We had to buy earplugs to get any sleep at all. And the noise was very irritating as we tried to relax on the beach. Also the bed was very uncomfortable and very lumpy. After a few days our backs were quite sore.

Nice hotel on the beach

Posted Jan 14, 2015
The beach unfortunately isn't very good as we had a lot if seaweed wash up really bad and once you get over the beach the seabed us full of rocks. We walked a little to get in the sea. The pool was nice too. It's convenient to 5th ave for shopping.
