"Staff was nice and the stay was excellent. Super close to BART, too. The area is a bit sketchy and I heard some people screaming and yelling at night but other than that it was fine. "

"Great place. Was traveling for work and wanted something downtown that wasn’t a chain. Had an excellent time and will stay again. "

"Lovely rooms with water views and a spacious bathtub. Possibly our favorite Oakland hotel. DoorDash delivered to the door and we ate dinner in the balcony with sunset sparkling over the water. "

"We wanted someplace in between downtown and the airport with a view of the Bay and this was it. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was well appointed and the bed was just right. "

"The Ramada staff was very helpful and kind. The rooms were very clean and the breakfast was nice. Fresh peaches! They had cucumber and citrus water in the lobby, and it was refreshing. The hotel was close to Bart so it made it easy to get to San Francisco! "

"It's an old family ran motel. The area is sketch, but I felt safe & had no issues during my stay. Only downside, by choice, very limited English speaking by the front desk. "

"The staff are very nice and helpful, the location is two blocks from BART and within walking distance of Chinatown and the Jack London Square area. On Sundays, the Laney Flea Market is literally across the street, so that was neat too."

"This is hands-down our favorite hotel on the Bay Area. Just a little off the beaten path, quiet, serene, safe, you can’t beat the views of the yacht harbor, bay and city. Great fire tables and patio. I love the indoor pool and hot tub, the pool temperature is so comfortable, but it doesn’t feel hot and stuffy in there. The mattress was a little old and could use a new one, I feel some of the rooms are due for a remodel, but it definitely won’t stop me from coming again, definitely get a courtyard or marina view room."
"Room was quiet and beds comfortable. Only minor comment would be the restaurant options after 11am are non existent but it’s not a major inconvenience. "
"Great shopping, coffee, restaurants within walking distance. Room was huge, plenty of space for two people to do yoga in the mornings. Ask for a street view, rather than a courtyard view. Great staff, easy check-in and checkout, incredible value for the location. Recommend. "
"I spent the day on the Bay with friends. We had a late dinner. When I checked in, they were courteous and ready. I was given the key and was in my room in ten minutes."

"We would always stay here when it was a Marriott property. Sonesta did not disappoint and will continue to be our go to! Our Bay Area view was perfect, shopping all within walking distance and a sweet heated indoor pool was a win for our son."
"The family who runs the hotel are great. Very approachable and affable. I would totally recommend stay at the Highlander. Next visit to the bay area, I'll be staying there."
