"The facility is beautiful, however, the service is very poor. We were quite disappointed. It took so long to get our food at the hotel restaurant. Also, there wasn't a microwave in our room so we called the front desk and requested a microwave and utensils and plates. A staff brought the microwave but not utensils and plates. We asked about the utensils and plates and the staff said he didn't know. He said he will get it. After twenty minutes, we called the front desk and she said they will bring it up. No one brought it up. So disappointed and such poor service. "

"The staff was friendly and helpful. It was my first time staying in Detroit. It was in asking distance to the concert venue and late night meals. Valet parking was so convenient. It was the perfect stay. I'll definitely book here again. "

"I was so EXCITED to stay here! I booked my stay early November for a stay in May! It was my first time in Detroit, I had paid $900/night for a room, only to get a call during my flight that my room was canceled due to an "unexpected emergency" it was extremely extremely disappointing!"

"We moved rooms 3 times due to issues, no refund was offered. Absolutely a mess of a trip. AC didn’t work, rooms were disgusting, and they left our door unlocked and propped open as the lock didn’t work. DO NOT STAY HERE"

"I chose this hotel because it was close to the venue where I was attending a concert. It was nice to be able to walk to the venue and not worry about parking. The neighborhood seemed pretty safe. My sister and I felt fine walking at night. The room was very clean. It did seem to be missing some amenities that I have come accustom to while traveling. There was only one bar of hand soap in the bathroom and no complimentary makeup wipes. The TV was a basic flat screen instead of a smart TV. There was no pool but the fitness room looked nice (we did not use it). Some of the staff were friendly but other were a bit cold or seemed overwhelmed. It was good for proximity to where we needed to go but seemed as if it could be better for $200/night."

"This was one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. While the staff were friendly, the condition of the hotel was completely unacceptable, especially for nearly $250 per night. From the moment we walked in, there was a strong musty smell from the carpets, which were visibly worn, torn, and fraying throughout the hotel. The room itself was unbelievably cramped, with barely enough space to walk between the bed and dresser without turning sideways just to get to the bathroom. The room door would not close properly and had a noticeable gap at the top, allowing hallway noise into the room all night, made even worse by the paper-thin walls. The curtains were damaged and falling apart, leaving gaps that let bright parking lot lights shine into the room overnight. The bedding was also disappointing. The “blanket” was so thin it was practically see-through and felt more like a sheet than proper hotel bedding. The most disturbing part was the shower tile that appeared to have a dark red splatter stain resembling blood. It was shocking to see and raised serious concerns about cleanliness and maintenance. Breakfast was extremely basic and underwhelming. Overall, this hotel was dirty, outdated, poorly maintained, and nowhere near worth the price charged. I would not recommend staying here."

"Great old building in design and common area furnishings are appropriate with plenty of character. As for the room: Sure, the building is old and one doesn't expect a big room, but ours was too small; there was about one foot of space on two sides of the bed. Space to leave one suitcase open, but not two. Bathroom was small, as was the sink. The major problem in the room, though, was the owner's insistence on a period bed that required one to pole vault into it. There was a two-step stair left next to it, which might work fine until you feel for it in the middle of the night and twist an ankle. We stuck it under the bed. It was very challenging getting into the bed--like mounting a horse without stirrups. And the mattress was soft, softer than in most decent hotels. Our room was supposed to include breakfast, and I assume we paid for it in the fee, but renovations nixed it. I asked for a credit, but the receptionist sloughed me off. I also asked her for information about two local attractions, but she couldn't help me. Finally, no one told us that we wouldn't get new towels each day, so we tossed some of ours on the floor per typical hotel protocol. Only later did we learn of their policy--new towels every two days. No problem--if they had just told us up front."
