The location is excellent—close to Waikiki Beach, shops, and restaurants. The rooms were updated, which is why we chose this hotel. However, our experience fell short. The front desk staff at check-in felt dry and not very welcoming. Having visited Hawaii multiple times, we expected more of the “Aloha spirit.” Additional staff training would help. Our room had several issues. We found hair on the bathroom floor upon arrival, which was disappointing. The corner unit layout was awkward, with a very small, oddly shaped shower and a tiny sink with almost no counter space. There was also no hot water early in the morning—I had to shower with lukewarm water, and it took about 20 minutes for hot water to come through for my husband. Soundproofing was poor; we could clearly hear conversations from the next room both early morning and late at night, making it hard to rest. the other two rooms we booked for our parents were better. Still, despite the great location, the overall experience did not meet expectations. We would not choose to stay here again." The first couple of days cigarette smoke was coming into our room and eventually got moved to another slightly better room. we then had awfully loud neighbours who seemed to never leave their room but the musi. was so loud it would wake us up at all hours of the night. Admittedly these incidents are beyond the hotel's control; however the way they deal with them is what matters and that's what we had a problem with. Management seem to be never available, nobody is on duty until 7:30 we were told, most staff we encountered at this hotel seemed to not care about anything (except awesome Rachel in the restaurant). There was never any follow up about any complaints, nor explanation as the hotel procedures with guest concerns, even after 6 nights out of seven when security or management was called. Our resort fee, which is silly anyway, was eventually waived but we had to ask for that to be done, not proactively offered. Not a pleasant stay at all, and did not leave feeling like the staff cared at all."
