magnificent hotelPosted Feb 26, 2014
Pros: The incredible design, for views, structure, landscaping, pools awesome engineering and architecture
Cons: aerobic exercise in pool, lower sound level and somebody have a mic on the deck above pool. It was very difficult to hear the instructor in the pool
Location: The trip to the small (4MILE LONG ISLAND) off shore was a real kick riding all over on the 4 wheel devices
It doesn't get any better. Price point, quality staff, friendly, activities, dining.

nice hotel but bad servicePosted Feb 24, 2014
My friends and I was in that hotel for 2 nights all inclusive, it was a nice hotel, but no one tell us that we have to make the reservation to have dinner in all restaurants there except one which is not good. The wifi is terrible signal and you have to pay. When my friend complains, the staff says there is nothing she can do. And the snacks and drinks was not refilled which is not what they told us they will refill it everyday. The good spot of the seats near the pool was all for members. Anyway, just don't choice this hotel if you want your vacation be good.

First time experience.Posted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: Amenities are nice, pools are really nice, most of the stuff is nice, with rare exceptions.
Cons: The time share sales are sticking to you like leeches spoiling the experience, please move them off of the property.
Location: Ferry to isla mujeres is in a walking distance. Beach sports like kayaking, paddle-boat, jet-skiing, volleyball is available. The rest is ~15km away
The entrance, the lobby the rooms are pretty amazing especially for the first time guests. I was wowed. After staying for a while you start to notice things, but who wouldn't. Overall it's a solid 4 out of 5 experience. I would stay another time. The hotel is off the hotel zone which has pluses and minuses. I liked the fact that we were in a sort of secluded location, but on the other hand to get anywhere you will need a car or a taxi. We have rented a car and were fine driving around.

OK hotel, definately not close to a 5 star.Posted Feb 20, 2014
Pros: Beds were very comfortable, rooms were clean, beach was very nice. Ground floor workers were very nice and pleasant.
Cons: Management's attitude towards their customers whether they are time share holders or not.
Location: Resort is far from major excursions. 1.5 hrs minimum to get to Explor, one way!!
Ground floor people were very good. Bartender Adrianne, you couldn't ask for better, always super friendly and made you feel extremely important and it didn't matter who you were. Spa Freddy, most likely the best massage person around. Hostess Frida, could most likely manage 5 restaurants at the same time, she seemed to be at every restaurant and was always extremely pleasant and worked very hard at making things right. Management at the concierge, was a different issue, never had such rude and unsupportive people. Most of our restaurant reservations were wrong, or never reached the restaurant. When we asked where we should eat if we were back late from an excursion, we were told that the convenience store would still be open and we could buy our supper even after we informed them we were "All inclusive". The one conciege person even told us that we should spend our money even if we were all inclusive. One concierge lady went out of her way by serving others before us after we told her we were not interested in the time share presentation. However Rosa, the manager of the Spa was the only one that helped try to make things right. She happened to be the manager on duty the night before we left. Stocking our room fridge was another ordeal that we had to put up with, it never got stocked properly or not at all unless we call almost every day and then they expected us to be there and wait the 30 to 40 minutes it would take to deliver the stuff.

Nice resort - very poor customer servicePosted Feb 19, 2014
Pros: The view from our room was exceptional. Resort was very pretty.
Cons: Get away from having your guests sign a bill for everything - very annoying and time consuming
The resort is very beautiful, rooms are very nice. The customer service was lacking in a few very important areas. Very small buffet (about 3 dishes) every night - otherwise you had to make reservations for all your meals, except breakfast. And then they would lose your reservation. Pool area bars didn't open until 11 A.M. and closed at 6 P.M. Even though we were all-inclusive, we had to sign for every drink and meal we had - very annoying. The staff took more time making the bills than serving the customers. Nightly entertainment left an awful lot to be desired. Signs at the elevator said "silence after 9:30 P.M." - really!!! Meals in the specialty restaurants not very good. Our in-room fridge was supposed to be restocked daily - was done only 3 of the 9 days we were there.

Wonderful oasisPosted Feb 17, 2014
Beautiful resort. Would definitely recommend. Perfect winter getaway! Restaurants are first class. Pools are amazing. Only complaint I would have is that they dont have a drink menu! But bartenders were friendly and helpful.

ok!Posted Feb 10, 2014
Pros: pretty and clean
Not a very pleasant experience, even though the hotel is very pretty the staff is not very friendly plus there is a lack of communication between them and therefore lots of misunderstandings take place. Some say one thing and the others another, but at the end you just noticed they care only about the money and not about giving a good service and leaving a good impression. I went once but we never come again. Plus the hotel is located in an area that is under construction so there is nothing to do around it. It is quite far from where the fun is and where all the nice places are. Called in early in the morning on the day of check in (8am) to have a nice birthday surprise in the room for my husband when we arrive and when i got there at 9pm, they didnt prepare anything. and the answer was: we were not informed and cant do anything about it! SORRY, next time (this is not good service at all) Not recommended!

An excellent resort in comfort, food and servicePosted Feb 8, 2014
Pros: Choice of two breakfast buffets, excellent service for beverages and lunch at the pool or beach, and a choice of four a la carte rest. for dinner
Cons: Provide free wifi, at least in lobby. Daily charge of $10.00 a day, is steep, especially to send a brief message to family at home that all is well.
Location: We liked isolated location. Travel agency on site helps with tours. Ferry to Isla Mejeures is close and cheap.Shuttle service available if required.
We are from Winnipeg but also shared our holiday with members of the family from Ottawa. The resort accommodated us in terms of room location requested. We found the staff very accommodating and pleasant at all times. Although the resort is somewhat isolated, we did not find this a problem as we were next to the ferry to take us to Isla Mejeures and pickup at the hotel for a tour we took. Shuttle services appears to be okay, but we did not have need for this service. We always dined in one of the four a la carte restaurants so did not take in the dinner buffets and we generally missed the entertainment. This was a trade off we decided on as we thought the a la carte dinners outweighed the entertainment.

Standard hotel and expectations.Posted Feb 4, 2014
Pros: The food was good and the grounds are kept up well and the waters and waitresses were very friendly and made sure that our satisfaction was paramount
Cons: Some things that were a disappointment was that for an all inclusive you have to sign for all orders and services. Even if you want a simple coke.
Location: The beach was nice and clean and I liked the fact that you can go to Isla Mujeres by the port right next door walking distance to the hotel.
My wife and I stayed at 4 hotels from Playa Del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Isla Mujeres and then finally a couple of days at Villa Palmar Del Cancun. Out of all of my stays during the week the Playa Del Carmen was just ok. Some highlights is that the pool area and beach area is nice. Over all a nice place to stay but can use some improvements for service. Also watch out for any time share tours they want you to review. We were smart not to go through that process.
