The rooms are very outdated and not inviting basically just a bed and a shower. Behind a wall picture we found dried insects, and the bed frame was old and worn to the point it didn’t feel properly cleanable. Housekeeping did clean daily, but the overall condition of the room was poor. The most serious issue happened at the children’s pool area. The lifeguard behaved in a completely inappropriate way. My friend and I (both in our 30s) entered the area and he was visibly adjusting himself inside his swimwear while staring at us. It was obvious and extremely uncomfortable. Later, when letting me onto a slide, he unnecessarily touched my buttocks. There was no reason for physical contact. I shouted “Don’t touch me!” and avoided that area for the rest of our stay. This is unacceptable behavior, especially in a family resort. We were also misled about extra charges. A staff member offered tequila shots for a $3 upcharge, but at checkout we were charged $12 per shot. I paid, but this feels dishonest. I would not have purchased them at that price. The front desk showed no interest in addressing the issue. Food was okay, drinks standard for all-inclusive, staff generally polite. We travelled as a family with a seven year old. Maybe they just had an off night but the food at the Japanese restaurant was terrible. We went to the buffet after. If going to the steakouse, have the fish. The buffet? Well, some good some bad. you'll figure it out but there was always something decent to eat. The beach restaurant and the mexican restaurant were great (have the Pibil at the mexican) 2) the beach is basically unusable....so many rocks at the shore make it very difficult to enter. Bring water shoes. Overall was a good visit. Would I go to this resort again? I'm not sure. In pictures showed 2 beds or bed and a foldable sofa bed. We assumed that we can choose. When we arrived for our stay at the check in staff said we can only get the one with foldable sofa bed. After we arrived in our room foldable sofa was rusted, none functional. No sheets were given for it either. I tried to set it up and it was broken. We managed to get by during our stay. Was a bit disappointed since we specified it’s for 2 adults and 2 kids. Over all we loved our stay and enjoyed everything els. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Food was amazing. Drinks were great. We would absolutely come back or recommend! My husband and I went for a relaxing baby moon and were able to do just that! From the moment we arrived to the time we left we had nothing but great things to say. Elias was so informative and welcoming and was able to get us an upgraded room we truly enjoyed!! We went to Mike’s Coffee every morning and enjoyed not only the coffee or snacks they had, but also the environment. They also had games you could enjoy. The buffet food was also good (unlike other resorts we’ve been to) with a variety especially the breakfast and the restaurant food was GREAT! We definitely recommend going to the 3 restaurants they offer for dinners. Angelica was able to get us reserved. She was so nice and answered any questions we had! Sakura, the Japanese restaurant, we went to the second night and WOW! The food and the experience of them cooking in front of you was wonderful! Third night we went to La Locanda, the italian restaurant, had amazing food and great service! We didn’t go to the steakhouse as we wanted to enjoy the Mexican parade they were hosting that night, but heard great things! Each night they had something to experience that was kid and adult friendly. We experienced live music, we did karaoke at the piano bar, fire show, and mexican parade during our stay. The pools were clean and nice size to not be on top of others and the swim up bar was nice! Food was great. Service was great and the resort was clean with lots to do ! My only suggestion would be to wear water shoes in the ocean !!! My father in law stepped on a stonefish and had severe pain swelling and got very sick ! Lisandro was the man ! Two cgecked bags will run you an extra 400$ Nothing to do with stay, just thought I'd add that note. The property is a little tired. The rooms could use sn update and the pools could be re surfaced. The staff was exceptional. Very courteous and are there to help in any way. Ask for an upgrade when you get there. We got a swim ip no extra. The swim ups are nice. The water is a little cooler and more refreshing. The beach isnt the best. The Sargassum that washes up on the beach is pretty bad. They try to clean it up but there is just too much. The food was oaky at best. Getting to the buffet early is key as it gets picked through and tgere is long line ups to the omletts. You are very close to Playa. I Suggest a cab ride in for a day. The lounge room and bedroom were both huge and had all the expected amenities. Beyond the lounge was the patio with hot tub, and beyond that was the lap pool that snaked along the front of the five or six adjacent rooms. The view from both rooms was dense vegetation. It was very secluded and peaceful. Upstairs in the same building was the Privilege Lounge, with bar and first class restaurant (best in the hotel). Perfect for breakfast and dinner. The room was spotless and the housekeeping staff courteous and obliging. My only minor criticism was that the room, although well maintained, was showing its age in places - rather dark, and humid to a level that completely defeated the portable dehumidifier in the corner. Outside of the room, the beach was only steps away and the restricted “Privilege” area very comfortable with loungers in both shade and sun, food and drink service available, towels on site, etc. The beach restaurant, Pez Vela, served delicious light lunches. Our stay was made seamless and extra enjoyable by the Prestige head butler, Antonio, who showed us around on the day of our arrival, made restaurant bookings for us, helped us reserve beach chairs, found us floats for the lap pool, and answered all of our questions. My daughter and I also spent a very pleasant afternoon in the spa. The staff was amazing! Our concierge Elias from Guest Services was a true Angel always available to answer our questions and make suggestions. Every resort/hotel should have an Elias on hand. Ocean does their resort a little different but it has it's ups and downs like any other resort. The UPs are the resort is clean and well maintained and our room was recently refurbed and had all the amentities that you want/need and more. Our walkout to the pool and waterpark was a nice plus! Our kids loved seeing all the animals! Restaurants were all good with some things being better than others but lots of options and never went hungry! Route 66 is a must! Their a la carte reservation/or lack their off (FCFS) is a little different but managable. The coffee shop, crapperie and ice cream shop are also all nice extras some resorts lack! The DOWNs would be lack of towel stations near the beach, beach restaurant should just be a buffet and the beach itself is very rocky and el natural! Not for everybody for sure and the pools were very cold also!
