Playa excelente

Posted Jun 30, 2015

Beautiful property!

Posted Jun 26, 2015
Pros: Location, beach, pool staff.
Cons: Better information on services and meals available at time of check in.
Location: Dive with Mexico Blue Dream divers! Trip to Tulum less than 1 hour away. enjoy the beach! Excellent Italian restaurant - Cenacolo.
This is the nicest property in Playa del Carmen, north of the Ferry pier. While there is seaweed on the beach, they do rake most of it up. The area in front of the hotel is public beach, as all are, but not crowded. Pool by the beach is one of the nicest setting I have ever seen and eating at the pool side restaurant is very enjoyable! Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Going back next year for sure!

Posted Jun 24, 2015
We didn't expect too much since we paid a fair amount of money but this hotel exceed our expectations... Everything was so nice and clean, great and comfy rooms on the beach, the rooms were small but very comfortable, the staff was very nice and the hotel was very close to fifth avenue (about five minutes walk) so we enjoyed all worlds in our vacation. The meals were included and quite nice though if I would change anything, would be in this field but we didn't starve :-) would recommend anyone!

Hôtel agréable à 3 minutes du centre-ville

Posted Jun 22, 2015

Awesome Boutique Resort

Posted Jun 22, 2015
Pros: The food was great, and the hours for meals make it easy to make sure you don't miss the great food! The staff is amazing!
Cons: I wish the main focus of the main bar wasn't sports on a big-screen TV. I'd prefer music to shouting.
Location: Stayed primarily at the resort, but the cute little street between the resort and Fifth Street had a great bar and shops.
Mahekal is amazing! For those who don't want a traditional resort vacation but all the amenities, this place will beat out all the others. The staff was unbelievable—doing everything possible to make you feel welcome. I love that the mantra seems to be quality over quantity. Rather than stuffing 1,0000s of people in high rise buildings you stay in gorgeous plapa-roofed cottages that are sprinkled along meandering paths through meticulously-groomed landscaping. It feels very safe and private. And rather than looking like a Cape Cod beach on the Fourth of July (like the resorts next door), the beach was open, inviting, and not at all crammed full of people.

Amazing staff, poor value

Posted Jun 22, 2015
Besides the wonderful, friendly staff, this hotel did not impress us. The shower looked like something you might find in a prison, our porch looked inviting but was absolutely infested with Mosquitos, the dinner portions were ridiculously small and not that tasty, and the food and drink for purchase was way overpriced. We had the pleasure of staying during renovations, which began at 6:30 am and lasted all day until 7pm. Renovations may be necessary, but not at 6:30am. I've always gaffed at people who seem to complain about everything, but we were do extremely disappointed with this hotel we want to prevent others from making the same mistake. It is a shame because the staff here is awesome, but some major changes need to take place here. Another thing we were disappointed to see was that the beach had public access and was filled with locals. Why am I paying $2500 a week to use a beach that is free for everyone else? Despite the great staff, will not return here.

Construction!!!!!!!!!!!! Awful noise = headaches

Posted Jun 15, 2015
Pros: food, atmosphere, bell service
Cons: construction, cleaning, update ceiling fans
Location: 5th avenue was really fun.. we tried to stay out of the room as much as possible so we did alot of beach and shopping. Went to Cozumel one day
This hotel has great food, a nice staff and the bungalows are cute. Pools are really nice also. BUT - there is alot of construction going on, and we were traveling with a 4 year old and they put us directly next to the main construction area. It would start at 8 AM with drills, trucks, jackhammers and all other horrible noises you can imagine and go until 7 at night. My daughter had no chance of a nap and we couldn't relax in the hammocks or in the room. So much for sleeping in also! The room appeared clean, but the floors were covered with hair! The shower had a rocky floor which was cool, but there was dirt, hair and sand crusted around it. The bell boys were super nice, and check in was great. It was a really tough couple days though because all the noise gave me horrible headaches and an irritable 4 year old which is a terrible combo. The hotel did not accommodate us at all. I couldn't rush fast enough the last day to get out of the room.. it was really disappointing. :(

The best hotel in Playa del Carmen!

Posted Jun 8, 2015
Pros: Staff, installations, privacy, security, pools, view.
Cons: Offer a little more vegetarian options at dinner time. Don't put bacon in salad, put it apart, so whoever likes it can add it.
Location: Location is perfect, beach is just steps away. The hotel offer great tours to the best touristic attractions.
From checking in to checking out I just felt in home. People were very friendly and caring. The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are cabanas with porches and hammocks in the porche. The bed is super comfortable as it is the bathroom. They put everything you need, like mosquito repellent, after sun lotion, beach towels, etc. The private beach is amazing and it is just steps away from room. It has 2 restaurants and they are both delicious and very affordable. They normally have a band or group playing during dinner time and it is very relaxing and soothing. They offer ceramic painting and it is a great way to share with friends and family. Plus you get to take your masterpiece home. They have 2 pools, one with a Jacuzzi and view of the beach, simply amazing.
