“So glad we chose this because it was very budget friendly but also very accessible, free parking, free breakfast that is just right! "The toilet in our room is almost not working, the shower head is leaking, and the soundproofing is very poor. We were also assigned a room next to the laundry room, and the noise from the machines made it impossible for my family to sleep after a full day of driving. When I went to the front desk to ask if it would be possible to change rooms if one became available, the male staff member was very impatient and his attitude made us feel very uncomfortable during our stay."

Directly outside the monument proper sits the uncovered remains of a pit dwelling originally constructed in 1850. The dwelling would have been covered inside an oblate oval "cocoon" of mud and clay supported by beams and poles situated in the holes you see here. It would have been a relatively comfortable dwelling in all seasons. With a single opening for a door, the coolness of the interior would have been maintained during the hot summer. In the winter, a fire pit directly under the only opening in the roof would have provided enough heat (with the door closed off by leather or cloth) to keep the inhabitants warm and dry.
