“Inn itself is pretty. Room was clean for the most part, and beds were comfy. Our only issue was with the person who checked us in and with whom we interacted throughout our stay. We arrived 15 minutes prior to check-in to find a sign on the door teeling us to call a number to check in. The call went to voicemail both times that I called, and right after the 2nd call, a woman opened the door. She made it a point to passively aggressively remind us that we were early (a whole 15 minutes!) & tell……

“South Shire is a quaint Victorian Inn on Elm Street within walking distance to the center of Bennington, VT. The Inn has a family feel and elegance. We traveled as a couple. It was easy to get to sites and enjoy fine restaurants. The Inn is in keeping with the feel of strength of the Bennington community, as a place for artists, musicians, and people's expression generally to thrive. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend South Shire.”

“The Inn was charming with lots of character. You can see the pieces of history inside the rooms even though they’ve modernized it for comfort. It was perfect. Stay for us inconvenient locations to the places we needed to go. I would definitely stay there again.”
