5 Star Resort! Excellent Facilities and Service!Posted Nov 3, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff that caters to all your needs, excellent facilities, good food and drink. Perfect place for couples! You won't be disappointed!
Cons: Everything was great!
Location: Great location in Playacar. Easy 25-30 min walk to Playa Del Carmen where you can shop and take the ferry to Cozumel. Also, very close to Xcaret.
I would recommend this hotel to everyone! Rooms: They are newly renovated and spacious, and they all have jacuzzi tubs, rain showers, sitting areas and balconies. We really liked the open concept. Pools: There are lots of pool options - from deep pools, to pools with bars to shallow infinity pools - all are great. Staff: The service is exceptional. The staff is extremely friendly and they go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable. They will make sure you have a drink at all times of the day - whether you are on the beach, sitting by the pool or walking around the lobby/courtyard area. They also do special things like make fresh coconut cocktails by the pool and signature drinks in the evening by the courtyard. Food: We were very impressed with the food and had the opportunity to dine at the Steakhouse, Mexican restaurant, Japanese restaurant and Krystal (new gourmet concept restaurant). Each restaurant was amazing although I think we had the best experiences at Krystal and the Japanese restaurant. Beach: The beach is beautiful. There are lots of lounge chairs and hammocks (full sun and shade since there are dozens of palm trees). There is a seaweed problem but the staff is on the beach every morning before 6AM cleaning the seaweed so you rarely notice it later in the day. Also, I would recommend getting a massage at the outdoor massage cabana on the beach. Another nice feature is that you have access to the other Riu hotels in Playacar.

5 things we wish were different at this Hotel!Posted Oct 29, 2015
Pros: The Beach and Pool areas were clean and the staff was very nice.
Cons: New A/C units; Electric Fans in the Bathrooms; Non slip strips on the stairs; new mattresses and softer sheets/towels.
Location: It's in the private community of Playa Car and you need to take a Taxi to get to Playa Del Carmen, if you want to go shopping in town.
I like to read reviews that are direct and to the point so knowing there are a few like me out there let me get right to it.... Nice people but awful rooms 1) The Air-Conditioning never seemed to work correctly, even after changing rooms and having a technician check the unit, it did not produce enough cooling to dry out and cool down the room. We lay in sweat every-night, it was miserable. Hotel management you need to spend some money on your A/C units. 2) There are no electric fans in the toilet, so if you're the first one to use the toilet good for you but if you're second you will not only have to smell your companion but you will undoubtedly hear their private business before you get to yours. 3) It rained every day we were there, Oct 17th through the 24th. The hallways and stairways were very slippery, the tile is nice to look at but when it's wet be very careful. perhaps some non-slip strips would be a good safety upgrade on the tile stairs. 4) The mattresses were very firm, so in addition to sweat pouring out of us all night due to the lack of cooling we were not at all comfortable on the mattress. 5) There is no fabric softener used on the towels or on the sheets, so at the end of the day, crawling into a hot, hard bed with hard sheets made restful sleep non existent.

Great all-inclusive in Playa del CarmenPosted Oct 22, 2015
Pros: Food, friendly staff, clean rooms, beach
Cons: Tiles tend to be slippery when wet
Location: Beach, ocean, going to Playa del Carment
This all-inclusive resort is well maintained, clean and extremely pleasant property. Beach has nice sand and comfortable loungers are provided along with towels. The staff are all super friendly starting from the reception to housekeeping to waiters. The rooms are cleaned very thoroughly, at least once a day and sometimes even several times a day - in the afternoon and at dinner time. Food deserves separate mention as it was outstanding. Buffet-style breakfast and lunch have enough variety to keep one from getting bored for about a week. Dinner is available as both buffet and several a-la-carte restaurants: Japanese, fusion, Mexican, Italian and steakhouse. All buffet food is prepared well, and is very tasty. While one does need a reservation for the specialty restaurants, food there is of even higher quality that matches or exceeds typical restaurants in the continental US. Also, there is plenty of activities provided by the resort - there are shows and performances every night, sometimes gambling, sometimes its gala night. Also, one can visit nearby RIU hotels in the walking distance - Tequila, Playacar, Yucatan. I was not a fan of all tiled floors in rooms and walkways at the resort as they tend to become slippery when wet. Also, we had a few rainy days there (non-stop rain) and it was visible that the staff struggled to keep up with increased demand for room cleanings, although these circumstances were highly unusual. In summary, we are coming back next year.

The hotel grounds are beautiful and are right next to the beach. The staff was excellent. Did not like the open concept bathroom layout.

AWESOMEPosted Sep 18, 2015
Cons: The seaweed can be a issue but the hotel staff does clean it up as best as the can. It's nature and all the hotels have this issue.
Location: Took the Tulum Xtreme tour and had a great time..........Enjoyed the beach each day and drinks all day long.
Wonder week..... Don't forget to tip as they will treat you like a king and queen.
