    El Cid Castilla Beach Hotel

"Nice hotel, near beach and plenty of pools"
The hotel is made of three properties and you can use facilities at all. The grounds and public areas are kept very good. The staff is very friendly and willing to help. If you don't travel with children, the adult pool is the place to relax. The food is nothing to brag about, had the all inclusive package so it is on par with what you would expect. My stay was short so I only tried one specialty restaurant (Argentinian) and it was not good. I had a pool view room and the bathroom design could be improved. If you have leg problems, the shower is difficult to get in and out of, high step over and no handrails. My best advice is to stay away from the desk marked for information. Go to the check in desk for questions. The information desk is a front for timeshare agents looking to sell to you. Took me 20 minutes to get directions with a long sales pitch. Also they will call your room ever morning. Your best bet is to get money from an ATM as the currency exchange on property never had money.

"Everything was as we expected it to be."
this is our sixth time staying at El Cid. We enjoyed our stay. The staff is always friendly and bilingual. The food is great. The room was comfortable and cool. The beach is always the best part of our stay. The pool and wait staff, wow! A frozen drink and a pool umbrella are a combination made to enjoy with the right company.

"Great location, excellent staff, needs a remodel "
Overall the trip and hotel were great. Positives: the employees were all fantastic and so helpful. The food was really good. The drinks were excellent and you are literally right on the beach and can play beach volleyball while enjoying a cocktail or five. Negatives: the water pressure was super low and the water was only warm, never hot. Not sure if the water pressure issues are true for all of Mazatlan. They could not provide us with any keys for the room safe. I had to carry all our money and passports with us and didn't feel comfortable having the room serviced. The wifi was spotty once you were out by the pool. They also wouldn't provide bottled water but I did drink the filtered water without any issues and you can buy bottled water for practically nothing across the street. Bottom line: we would definitely stay here again just for the great service although I really hope they fix the issues with the water and the room safes.

"Good for those on a budget"
The hotel was fine for the price of the room. The vending machine didn't work to perfection on the 1st floor and the hotel staff (at least ones that I interacted with) didn't seem to have a strong command of the English language but everything went fine without any issues. The breakfast buffet was very delicious so if you do plan to stay, I highly recommend that you take advantage of the complimentary buffet. As for the room itself, it was spacious however noises and echos could be heard inside the room from people in the hallway. It wasn't too much of an issue however sounds were audible so just make note. Also, on the night we arrived there were some kids (under 10 years old) loitering outside of the entrance asking for money. I wasn't quite expecting to experience this right outside of the hotel. The other nights that we stayed there weren't any kids but don't be surprised in case they are there waiting for you.
