Magnificent location, would stay again, uncomfortable mattress, sheets not fitted.

All in all very, very nice, clean, nr. wonderful places,1/2 blk. Carnegie Hall,2 blks. Central Park. Friendly. Bravo!

Walk everywhere , 2-3 miles from great N.Y. sites. We easily traversed up to 5 miles a day. We are backpack/canoers so are used to walking. Saw much filming of TV shows and movies, saw celebrities walking around.

Never Again

The hotel was in a fantastic location...other then that, the place is a mess. Our hotel room had two twin beds...TWIN BEDS. i haven’t seen twin beds since I was a kid in the 60s! The room temperature was very warm so we had to sleep with the window cracked which led to sleepless nights due to all the noise in our room. I will never stay at the Wellington hotel again!

underwhelmed

The outside of the hotel was nice, but the rooms were tiny and very old. My room was right next to the elavator, which would ding loudly everytime someone came onto the floor and would wake me up when I was sleeping (I am not a light sleeper either!). The surrounding area was very nice though and the people were friendly.

Great value for midtown Manhattan location

Excellent location - walking distance to concert halls, theaters, museums, as well as all types of restaurants nearby. The metro station is just downstairs. I stayed for 4 nights (Sun-Thu, last week of October) at Expedia-discounted rate, and was pleasantly treated to an end unit on one of the top floors (without having to ask for it.) The standard room is spacious and well supplied with amenities. The reception staff and hospitality crew were very courteous and efficient. One opportunity for improvement: the average wait time for elevators. I would definitely like to stay at this hotel again.

I thought I’d played safe and booked shuttle transportation ahead of arrival, which in retrospect was not necessary. From JFK or LGA there are shuttle buses that will take you to midtown hotels, Grand Central Station (accessible to/from the Metro) or the Grey Hound depot for about $15 one way or $27 round trip. However, there are fewer options as it gets late in the evening.

Just What We Needed

The Wellington Hotel was a GREAT place to stay! From the room being very clean to the convenience of being so close to so many places in NYC. Will I stay there again? You betcha!

Going to the SoHo are for all of the little boutiques is a GREAT shopper’s paradise!

Wellington Hotel great location

The Wellington is in a great location close to Times Square, Rockafeller Centre and Broadway. Its also close to Subways though at night they are working on them and took some time to get back to our stop. The room is clean and small. The bed was really small for 2 people. The bathroom was small but the shower was excellent.

Best New York has to offer on a buudget...

We were a little unsure of how the room was going to be. We had heard that rooms in NYC were small. Our room slept four of us comfortably with all us girls having plenty of suitcases and makeup bags we still had room to spread out. The room was clean and the hotel personnel were very helpful even when my 18 year old daughter got sick at night, they knew who to call and made recommendations about our choices. Great location, comfortable room, knowledgeable staff and didn’t break the bank...what more could you ask for!

Just Location

The nice quality of the hotel is the location but we did not find anything beyond that. We tried both beds in our room but could not sleep in either of them. (I’m 5’3" and my feet hung over the end.) Each time we came back to our room the windows had been opened. The hotel is in need of some updating and a facelift. Our room had several places that had been repaired, especially the bathroom. For the price, I expected much more.

The room was the size I expected (small), but it was extremely clean and comfortable. Staff were very, very pleasant and helpful.

Great Location...

This hotel has superb location. Malyvos restaurant was excellent. The staff was very helpful. The only downside is the hotel is older and room is small. But overall, I enjoyed my stay.

Perfect location, OK price. Stayed here before, will stay again. Very convenient.

The Wellington is very well located, you can see Times Square from outside the hotel. From the 26th floor, we had a view of Central Park too! We had 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which was necessary for 4 women. A few signs of aging but very clean. Location location LOCATION is everything and Wellington has that! Subway access just outside the door and and a decently-priced cafe at street level made the convenience factor a big plus. Friendly service and helpful advice made a pleasant stay. Hair dryer didn’t work in 1 bathroom but we were so busy we actually forgot to report it. I’ve stayed here before and wanted a known quantity when taking 3 other first-timers to NYC. They were impressed with the location. I’ll definately stay again. I recommend this hotel!

Don’t miss Century 21 near the World Trade Center site for high-end brand name and designer fashions, accessories, perfumes and cosmetics at discount prices.

Excellant Location

Loved my recent stay in New York City!! We were in the room basically to sleep and change clothes before heading back out. The location is excellant--within walking distance to plays, museums, central park, you name it!!! Subway entrance right outside of hotel. Definitely use the subway---you can go anywhere for very little $’s!!! I would stay at the Wellington again---definitely!!!

Walk and take the Subway!

Excellent lovation

Recently stayed at the Wellington. It is an old hotel, nothing fancy. Rooms are small. We weren’t in the room much at all. The location is fantastic. There is a subway entrance right outside the side door. The cafe was adequate for breakfast. Service was very fast. It is right on the street so fun to watch the people go by. We didn’t use any of the hotel’s services such as concierge so can’t comment. We were there 3 hrs before check-in and they stored our luggage for us. The price was good.

Best Time Ever!

The Wellington Hotel, although an older hotel with small rooms, provided us with very good service from the concierge giving us valuable tips to the doorman getting us a taxi on theater night, to the prompt room service. The hotel upgraded us from one room with two double beds to a two-bedroom, two bath suite and for the same price - excellent value. The hotel is located right next to a subway entrance with trains that take you most anywhere you need to go in Manhattan - very convenient. The Wellington is located near many famous places to see and excellent restaurants you can walk to - Molyvos is located at the Wellington and is a wonderful Greek restaurant. This was one of the very best travel experiences I have had. The convenience of this hotel makes it a place where I would definitely stay again.

A must is the the American Museum of Natural History (Great "Journey to the Stars" show at the Planetarium, Butterfly Conservatory, "Frogs - A Chorus of Colors", The Hall of Dinosaurs, and much, much more!

Great Location

If I were choosing a hotel knowing I would spend a lot of time in the room, I would not stay here. But, room was clean, staff was friendly. Could use a little TLC. The location was everything we had hoped for. Very convenient for "tourists". I would stay there again.

New York City

I booked a suite at the Wellington since they had a special on suites and I’m glad I did. When we first arrived they show us to a regular room instead of the suite I had booked. The standard room was very small almost to the point of being claustrophobic. I call the desk and they rectified the mistake and showed us to a spacious suite, large living room, small kitchen, nice bedroom with very clean bathroom. Having the suite made all the difference.

Broadway plays are the highlight of any trip to NY.

Would go again.

The location was great. It was cllose to many attractions including Times Square. Hotel staff were all friendly and helpful.

Buy your tickets on-line in advance. Aviod scalpers. West Side Story was sold out except for the expensive seats. We paid almost double face value to sit in the cheap seats although the scalper told us otherwise. Sardi’s is quick and reasonably priced to go to before the show. It’s about 3 blocks away. I would also skip the harbour tour.

Too expensive for what it offers

The hotel had no heat for a period of very cold weather. there were no thermostats in the rooms. They only turned on the central heat when the temperature was lower than 55 degrees and only when we called them.

Worst Hotel in Manhattan

bed was too small, no heat in the room, and the water in the bathroom was scalding hot, and now way to control it. This is the worst hotel.

Loved our Suite

We were thrilled with our accomodations. Our son had warned us to not expect a room with much space in NYC. We had 2 rooms with a double bed in each room and two bathrooms........can you believe it!! Also flat screen tv’s in each bedroom..which comes in handy when one half of the couple is addicted to ESPN. We loved every aspect of The Wellington. The lobby with those gorgeous chandeliers is beautiful. We were more than pleased.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

We loved the fact that the hotel was so close to Central Park and Times Square....along with many other attractions. Very convenient location.
