"Wonderful hotel with fun quirks"
I usually stay in Prati when I'm in Rome because it's quieter and has a great choice of restaurants and transportation options . If been wanting to try the ISA for the past couple of years . The beds are So comfortable you will want to stay in them for ever. The breakfast choices are the best I've had in Rome and I've been coming for 30 years every September. Angelo makes a nice cappuccino in the morning. The dining staff always has a smile and the choices are fresh and varied. I loved the balcony on my room as well as the brkfst terrace. The public rooms are such fun with their choice of design . The only thing that could be improved is their hair dryers. I realize it's an energy conservation issue but it is tough to dry your hair in spurts. It was great that I was able to get into my room when I arrived. That hélps so much after an 8 hour flight. And the best gelateria in Rome is just three blocks away.... Gelateria dei Gracchi! I can't wait for my next trip. The orange slippers are a fabulous touch...maybe get some that are smaller as well?

"Great location - beware the Annexe"
There appears to be two parts to this hotel - the main hotel and the adjacent building that is called the Annexe - not knowing any difference we booked into the Annexe. we arrived lateish (around 9:30pm) and were shown our room. The annexe building consists of a number of apartments as oppossed to rooms. We had room A2, which was dark, had a tiny window and was clastrophobic, so much so that we felt were in a basement. Not only this but the sound proofing was non existant so that we got to hear the lively and exubernet bunch of American Students next door for a good while. Not what I want from a get away in Rome. We called to reception who advised that as we had booked the Annexe building that is what we should expect, although they were surprised that it was noisy. I explained about the party next door and they said they couldnt do anything about it as it was private flats. We asked for a room change and were advised to wait until morning. Thus we put up with the noise and next day changed rooms to the main builidng. However, were charged an additional 20 Euros a night for the pleasure. The main hotel is more akin to what we know as a hotel and was much better (proper size windows for a start). However, they kept playing the Annexe card and didnt appear to care about the noise or the claustrophobic rooms. We were there for 4 nights, the final 3 were considerably more enjoyable than the first

"Fantastic."
Fantastic hotel. Perfect location. Staff out of this world. Room one of the best I have stayed in - entire hotel is absolutely beautiful. Breakfast was superb. Just round the corner from the colosseum, Trevi fountain and piazza barberini. Even the pantheon was just a 10/15 minute walk. Staff were an absolute credit to the hotel. Nothing too much trouble. Extremely helpful. Totally professional. Couldn't recommend this place more.

"Treated like family."
I wanted to thank you and your resort staff for the sincere welcome and hospitality that was afforded to us during our stay at your resort. We had the fabulous and elegantly laid out room 202. We had the pleasure of your excellent Red Glove Service. We arrived on Wednesday, June 29. As we entered the Gran Melia residence, we were welcomed by your Red Glove representative, Sylvia Farano. Sylvia was the first person we interacted with in Rome. For me, first impressions are everything in the hospitality business. Sylvia treated us with kindness, attentiveness and most importantly respect. The airline had misplaced my luggage. Sylvia was able to assist us in retrieving my luggage by the next day. Right then and there, we knew we were in excellent hands. Sylvia helped us with our tours, offered plenty of suggestions and directions. What was most impressive was that she had always asked us how our day of sightseeing was or how our dinners in central Rome was. She always remembered. There was a couple of days that she was not working and needless to say we missed her. The rest of your staff was equally helpful. When she returned to work, it was like seeing a family member. My family and I met you Ana in the lounge. You had asked us how we were and if there was anything you can do for us. You have no idea how that makes a traveler feel when you are so welcoming. We came to Rome to sight see, eat the food and learn your history. But, what I will remember forever are the wonderful

"Nice, but not royal"
Booked a standard room for 3 nights. As we saw on the homepage that there is a standard room with a round bed, before arrival we informed the hotel to be so kind to give us NOT the round bed as my husband is quite tall and the bed to small. When we arrived we were given of course exactly this room with the round bed! Fortunately, as there weren't another standard room available, we've got a free room upgrade with normal bed. Actually it was very nice, not spacious but with a good view, mirrors on the wall and the bed was comfy. But we recognized it was quite shabby too, as the walls were full with stains and also our bedlights weren't working. When we informed the reception about the lights, we were told that some guest must have broken them. But no offer of fixing them?! Breakfast was poor! We decided to eat outside! As a result, hotel is to pricy and isn't royal when you take a closer look on the details.
