The property location is excellent -- right in the middle of Old San Juan, so easy to go anywhere at any time. For a smaller property, it was nice that it included a coffee bar, small restaurant/bar around the lobby. The rooftop offered wide views & was a great place to hang out at all hours. Those features make it very unique.
The 2br/2ba unit (Room #4) with full kitchen had very good size. Unfortunately, all windows were screwed shut & could not be opened. Some slats behind the plexiglass were closed, thus blocking light & views -- very disappointing that we could not enjoy tropical breezes in our unit. The unit could use a thorough cleaning as there was dust & dirt on many shelves. My wife washed a few of the plates and stovetop right after we walked in. The unit's walls could also use some minor plaster repair & a fresh coat of paint. We noticed that a couple of smoke detectors had been removed & had a concern with the old fashioned door handle mechanisms where one could not necessarily enter another's room in the event of an emergency (or a clock alarm going off at 4:00am).
Some visitors might be turned off by the sign requesting that toilet paper be put in the garbage & not flushed down the toilet -- a procedure not uncommon on boats and various Caribbean island homes with old plumbing systems.
On a plus side, the 2 beds were super fantastic. The unit also has a couch with pull out bed that is adequate if needed.
Overall, a rough gem needing just a little polish.
