"Close to the old wharf area"
We had two nights in the hotel. The building is old with plenty of character including splendid art deco doors. The room was compact and well decorated. The bed was a good size. The bathroom had both a bath and a shower. Everything was clean and tidy and the room service ensured it remained so. The main bar, opposite the breakfast/dining room is being refurbished so the room currently being used as a bar is slightly too small. However there were always plenty of bar staff to prevent long queues. Breakfast of either continental or cooked provided plenty of choice and constant replenishment. The area of the town is being rejuvenated and there are plenty of bars and eateries although is quiet and relaxed. All in all a very pleasant experience.

"Gorgeous Hotel with incredibly friendly staff!"
We were meant to stay at the hotel back in December but could make it up due to flooding in Carlisle. We rearranged to last weekend 23/24th January and we had a fantastic time. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous lovely high ceilings and really nicely decorated with a boutique feel. We stayed in room 3 right on the top floor, lovely clean bathroom and bed was really comfy it's the first time I've slept right the way through in months- but that may of been due to the alcohol! There must be a boiler or something just outside the room because in the morning kept making noises as I assume other guests were in and out of the shower. But as we were there for a weekend we were getting up early to get out and sight see was no issue to us. You could not fault the breakfast service as soon as we reached the bottom of the stairs we were greeted and seated, so much choice on the menu that even me a fussy eater was spoilt for choice. It's the little touches at the hotel that make it so nice to stay in the "honesty bar" is a lovely feature and the really friendly staff. It's a short walk from the centre of town where all the shops are roughly 20 mins and there's bars restaurants about 10 mins away open until 2/3 am so again your spoilt for choice. I would highly recommend and definitely be back!

Pocket Guide: Edinburgh Leith 4 stars Hotels

Once a seaport town, Leith was incorporated into Edinburgh in 1920 amidst controversy and maintains its own identity. Leith Walk connects the city with its primary port where the Water of Leith feeds into the Firth of Forth. Visitors can tour the Britannia, which for 44 years was the Royal Family’s private yacht. Golfers may want to stop at Leith Links where the rules of the game were devised in 1744.
