The hotel looks nothing like the photos online. The staff was very friendly and helpful, which was honestly the best part of the stay. However, the hotel itself needs major updates. There is carpet throughout the hallways and rooms and it smells pretty bad. There is no air conditioning, so be prepared to request a fan. They do keep the windows open, but some of them don’t even have screens, which means anything can get into the room. Our bathroom definitely needed renovations. The tile was dirty and literally coming apart from the wall, and the vents were extremely dusty. The bathroom was also very small, especially the shower. If you’re a thicker person, I would definitely recommend requesting a handicap-accessible room, as those bathrooms are larger and updated. The ice machine was moldy, and the breakfast box with pastries had gnats flying around inside it, which was very off-putting. Another thing to note is that there are no amenities at this hotel. If you want to use any, you have to go across the street to their sister hotel, The Soma House. The staff there was also very friendly, and the rooms there are much nicer. In fact, we liked it so much better that we asked to relocate there, and the staff was very accommodating and helped make that happen. The area itself isn’t the best, as there are quite a few homeless individuals around.
