"We stayed for weekend friday to sunday. The Hotel is a traditional scottish village hotel doubling as village pub, with an old fashioned layout including a seperate entrance for the bar. So to use the bar you actually leave the hotel and re enter the bar. Some will find that quaint and charming The room was comfortable, clean and warm and everything worked. "Clean Room, lots of options for a Hostel. Great location on The Royal Mile. Walk to many Pubs, Restaurants, Parks, and shopping. Recommend Uber or Taxi if coming from train station as it is uphill and difficult to climb steep stairs with luggage in the rain. Also, the Lift at CODE was not working so we had to carry luggage up 3 flights of stairs after uphill walk from train station. Good workout but may be difficult for some people."

"Room was boiling hot as the aircon didn’t work. I only realised this when I woke up. Told receptionist on check out and got the old “you should have come down and told us”. It’s not a big deal I was just letting them know. Just the lack of empathy or apology when this happens is a bit irritating. On the whole it’s a nice hotel. The pool is small. "Location is goo right near the train station and royal mile. Room was clean and comfortable. Good value for the price. Breakfast was a good buffet spread but pretty expensive at 18 pounds per person. The elevators were down while we were there and we did see some questionable characters in the lobby at night, but for the elevator and stairs it required a room key. The door did close a bit slowly behind you when taking the stairs unless you pulled it shut. "
