“My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at The Tranquil House Inn in Manteo while we explored the Outer Banks. The rooms and service were great, and the location right on the water in downtown Manteo was perfect. Manteo has a charming downtown that offers plenty of shops and attractions without feeling too touristy. We also really enjoyed the light breakfast offerings each morning and the staff were so friendly and helpful.”

“Staff at desk were wonderful. The property is undergoing renovation and is obviously a work in progress. The room was comfortable, attractive, updated, ecologically sensitive, but did not have some of the amenities we have come to expect, like shower caps, hand and body lotion, etc.”

“Clean, comfortable and affordable room with nice shower! Bri met us with a smile and showed us around the place. We were not able to use the cute fire-pit area or tiki bar due to inclement weather, but I'm sure it's a hit on nice evenings. Coffee and tea are available 24/7 in the main house. Rooms come with a fridge which is great if you go out to eat and have leftovers. Centrally located on the island. ”

“A beautiful, well appointed spot. However, there are some issues with the service. The on site gentleman was wonderful. They were in my room fixing the fireplace when I arrived, had to come fix it again, left me just with a sheet when I said I had allergies to down-requiring me to call for a blanket, and did not have the plunges or sauna operational the duration of my stay. To their credit, they worked to get at least the sauna running. However, they only revealed the issue AFTER I booked……

Nous avons séjourné 2 nuits, nous n'avons jamais pu voir l'extérieur dans les fenêtres intérieures etaient embuees et dégoulinées l'eau. La chambre n'a pas été faite malgré une absence ce 10h30 à 15h30. De gros travaux seraient les bienvenus. ”

“Old school property. Right on the beach. Very quiet even though cars are parked right by rooms. People are quiet around you. Management is on property 24 hours a day. Beds are comfortable and shower is hot. Very clean property. Staff was friendly. Near all the good restaurants. Close to everything”

“Have stayed at the seahorse several times over the years. Easy check in and a nice Cottage.”

“We had an ocean front room with the historic wood paneling. It was charming and comfortable. I loved having the ocean access. The only complaint came from my teenage companion. She was surprised at the lack of outlets for charging her many electronic devices. Myself, this was to be expected and I didn't stress over it! I will definitely stay here again when visiting the OBX. Thanks so much!”

“It's actually a motel, not exactly a hotel. Not exactly like what I expected from online pictures. But overall it's ok for the price.”

“They did a great job renovating the Tar Heel motel. Clean, comfortable rooms. Bring K-cups with you if you are a big coffee drinker and don’t pack heavy. This is the best of old school Outer Banks, reminds me of when my parents would take us to OBX in the 70’s staying at the Beacon.”

“Our stay at Surf Side Hotel was absolutely amazing! 5 stars without a doubt. The cleanliness of the rooms was outstanding — everything was spotless, fresh, and very comfortable. You can really tell they take pride in keeping the hotel in excellent condition. The beds were comfortable, and the entire room felt welcoming and relaxing for our family.
