It is a beautiful property with access to all the surrounding hotels and their restaurants and pools. We loved the presentation of the food at all the restaurants. The infinity pool was our favorite when we escaped the kids.

Resort is ok. Bars and restaurants were hot. Only relief from heat was under the fan in our room. Food was fine. Transport to lobby took a long time and walking was really far. Dinner reservations were ridiculous. They can magically find a reservation if you buy a bottle of wine. Overall, the resort is pricy for the quality.

We had an outdoor pool that was beautiful. The room was spacious and clean. Many friendly animals roaming around the premises. Down fall was the services received. Served seem to cater only to a specific group or larger parties. It was my son and I staying in the resort. Many times we had to serve our own drinks, we didn’t received services at the buffet. My son would walk to the bar to served his drink and he was asked not to touch that someone would be serving him. The service never arrived or received. Also, the TV in the room didn’t work called maintenance four times, I never got the TV fix. * Hurricane Storm We stayed during the hurricane storm. The resort did an amazing job keeping us safe, providing information, updates and providing lunch boxes to prepare for the storm. It was definitely a scary experience.

The property offered many amenities. The pools were many and great, and the ocean was swimmable. The staff was friendly and serviceable. 2 days after our arrival, Hurricane Beryl struck; the hotel had metal shutters for our balcony doors, so we felt safe. Most of the damage was cosmetic. Though the hotel wasn’t what it was when we first got there, they did an awesome job trying to clean up and bring things back to as normal as possible. Within 1.5 days, we were enjoying our vacation as if nothing happened.

The hotel was more than half empty and the manager said that "sorry, no upgraded rooms are available to you". So, clearly, this resort does not fulfill Expedia VIP Gold status benefits. The gym at Luxury Akumal is a joke. There is no bench press, nothing to do do squats and the existing equipment is old, rusty and some are not functional. It's an embarassement for a 5-star resort. People come to such places to recreate, to improve health and having a good gym is absolutely essential. Bahia Tulum (the hotel next door, which you will have access from Akumal) has much better gym, although also far from being good. Another bad thing about the gym - the A/C is not cold at all. At best, it sustains temperatures around 25C, while normal gym temperature is 21C at the most. A/C is a problem at the whole resort. Many facilities do not have A/C or running it insufficiently. Thermostats at the rooms are limited and even if you'll set it at 15C, it will barely get you down to 27C. It's difficult to sleep in such hot rooms... Staff is lying, even the manager. An example - we called for towels twice. The answer every time was "someone will bring you the towels in 10 minutes". 2 hours later - no towels, no explanations. Came to front desk, asked the manager, the answer was "Sorry, we have no towels left, laundry was not working today". Then I went back to the room, called from the room once again about the towels and... MIRACLE! The towels came in 10 min. No towels, right?

We did the swim up room which was worth every penny. So easy and convenient to take an early or late dip. Kids loved it. Make dinner reservations at check in!! Book travel to and from the airport thru the hotel well in advance. Book excursions through them as well. Jet skis at the resort were super fun. Snorkeling was also great onsite. Shuttles around resort were easy and very frequent. Access to the other resorts onsite was fun and the shops at the telum resort were HUGE and easy to access without leaving the resort!!!

Water leaking in every building. Was non stop buckets on floors every day. Our room had leaking water above toilet there was standing water on top of toilet bowl and floors in bathroom. Also ants crawling along wall in toom and table tv sat on.

I would never come back to this place with my family! They brought us a broken crib and my baby hurt his head. We try to talk to costumer services. All they said was sorry. They also don’t have ramps for strollers We have email costumer services this is the day we haven’t heard from them. It mess up our whole family trip.
