Disappointed in room.

Posted May 20, 2017
Had to get room changed. Went from kitchenette room down to a room with fridge only but at least bed was a little more comfortable. First night in a Murphy bed. Stomped toes few times on the fold out bars. Had bed. Backache next day Stovetop would beep geld together with duct tape. Remodeling and banging going on around my room everyday. Could not relax in room during the day.

Loved to watching the curse ships come and go.

Posted May 12, 2017
Love watching the cruise ships come in and out. Biggest complaint we had was at 4 a.m. when the scuba shop unloaded there oxygen tanks right in front of our room and was banging them on the concrete 24 of them two mornings in a row sounded like someone was dropping something right and arm each morning I was up and could not go back to sleep. Curtains did not shut all the way so the light came in as soon as the sun came up. Nice resort good drinks good continental breakfast and fun snorkeling outside the hotel. Would go there again.

Great Location in Cozumel

Posted May 9, 2017
Cons: Pool area isn't large, but plenty of lounges on the sand. Some competition for the shady areas under umbrellas. Close to a cruise port, but no prob.
Location: A short cab ride to the downtown area. Otherwise a few bars and restaurants walking distance from hotel for those choosing to "leave campus".
A very clean, friendly and comfortable hotel in Cozumel. Feed and service were both above average and the cost VERY reasonable. While not on a beach per se, it was easy to swim after descending a set of stairs into the blue waters.

Excellent handicap accessibility

Posted Apr 22, 2017
Pros: Staff makes you feel like family. Great location.
Cons: More notification of night activities and special themed dinners.
Location: Great location, only a cab ride away from everything. Shopping State park, beaches with lots of water activities
Extremely comfortable, very friendly staff. Plenty to do yet very restful. Very accessible for my handicapped husband. No problems getting to pool, dining room, etc. made our vacation so easy. We loved the La Chopa. Chef makes the world's best omelets!

Comzumel....NOT

Posted Apr 15, 2017
Pros: The view was amazing.
Cons: Cleaner pool, better beach area and more selection for food.
Location: Location is good but away from most shopping that is down by the ferry terminal. Easy to get around but after six at night everything closes.
So...ferry from Playa Del Carmen was rough so my sisterinlaw got very sick on the way. We arrived at the hotel at 12:30 knowing we couldn't check in until 3 oclock. We had booked two rooms and I asked if we could get one room early for her to lay down. Sure...in 20 minutes. 1:15 they said so sorry will be another 30 min. 2:15 sorry the room is still not available. At 3:15 when both rooms should be available, sorry, we have one room clean for you...great. Room was fine. Very small king size bed on 11th floor with a beautiful view and comfortable room..standard hotel room. At 4:15 finally another room is available and as a favour they upgraded this room to a one bedroom suite...beautiful...book a one bedroom if possible..much nicer. The hotel doesn't have much for amenities and NO beach. The beach they do have is small and you have to take very slippery rock steps into the very rocky ocean. Great for snorkeling but not much else. The pool is disgusting. It's a very very small pool that has gross stuff floating in it constantly. Seating around the pool is very limited and there is NO shade. Service around the pool was great. I believe Wendy was our server and she was very prompt and accomodating. The location from the ferry terminal is only 4klms away so this was great and there is a shopping centre across the street. The problem with Cozumel is that they cater to the cruise ships. That being said, everything closes at 6 when ships leave and super expensive.

Very Comfortable Ocean View Room

Posted Mar 23, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Our room was very spacious and comfortable, with great ocean view from the balcony. The ocean access from the hotel is good for snorkeling.
Cons: Minor up-keep to general facility, seemed someone was working on it, painting, etc.
Location: About a $7 cab ride fr om downtown Cozumel. Very close to new cruise ship piers. There is a Hard Rock cafe and a flea market nearby.
We've stayed at many 5 star hotels and paid a 5 star price. In my opinion, we paid a three star rate for a 4+ star hotel during spring break and were very happy with the room, comfy bed, great ocean view. Service was very good, breakfast buffet with omelet bar also good food and value.

Beautiful common area but lies on the room

Posted Mar 16, 2017
First off I paid through Expedia the all inclusive king deluxe room with ocean view and once I checked in I was told it was not all inclusive that it was an extra charge per person, per day. I accepted that it wasn't all inclusive and said fine. Second, I get to my king bed deluxe room only to find out that the bed isn't even a bed but a sofa bed?!! They couldn't switch me room and for the whole trip my fiancé and I just get tossing and turning at how uncomfortable the SOFA was. And finally the food, the resort food wasn't to my liking ate a couple times at the resort and by the end all I kept eating was the fettuccine alfredo at a Mexican resort! The area, water, the town is worth going to visit but don't stay at this hotel. The only thing I was pleased with was the waiters and their service.

Very good value

Posted Feb 21, 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Great view of the cruise ships coming in. Snorkeling right in front of the hotel.
Cons: Fix the elevators.
Location: While there are a few restaurants within walking distance, it is not a handy walk to downtown. But the cab fair is reasonable.
El Cid was as nice as it showed online (not always the case with many hotels). Understand that, while nice, it isn't luxury. The elevators malfunctioned about 1/4 of the time. IF you could manually get the doors to close, sometimes it would just sit there and not go anywhere. And we didn't like that they tried to push Excursion tours on us as soon as we walked in the door. Aside from that, it is quite a nice facility with the snorkeling right out front, nice beach chair opportunities, friendly and helpful staff. Our room was amazingly tidy every day. It is a reasonable taxi fare from downtown. We were glad we didn't opt for the all-inclusive package. We ate a couple of meals there and they were just okay compared to some of the finer restaurants in town that we enjoyed. Finally, we had seen other reviewers complain that the ships (which come in RIGHT in front of the hotel) were "blocking the view." We LOVED watching the ships come and go every day. They were beautiful! All-in-all, we would definitely stay there again.
