Nice hotel, friendly staff, great food!

Posted Aug 26, 2015
Pros: The staff, the dining options, the value.
Cons: The free wiFy did not work, the lobby was oppressively hot --they could use some fans in there!
Location: There is really nothing but hotels in the area, but the tour companies offer lots of options and they are very well organized.
The hotel was decent for the price. The facility is very large and spread out. We were in building 5, which was close to the beach and the pool, but without the noise. There are 3 buffet style restaurants and 3 formal restaurants. We tried them all and were very pleased with the dining options. The room we had was average at best, but we were on vacation and did not plan to stay there too much! The bed could have been more comfortable. The staff was all amazingly friendly and accommodating. We were sold a tour at the airport that was probably too good to be true, but our hotel rep replaced what we purchased with something better ( thank you, Adrianna!). The hotel was a $25 cab ride from Playa Del Carmen, which is where the shopping and restaurants are, but they offer a shuttle service 3 times/day for $6. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again.

Main check in building extremely hot with no ventilation and makes for a miserable time when checking in or out. Same thing for the main restaurant by the beach and large pool. Terrible design for comfort. Resort is too spread out between the two main areas. Staff was very good and food was decent.

Nice family resort

Posted Aug 18, 2015
Overall the resort is quite nice. The overall design is more oriented for family vacations and is not the typical resort you would expect as it doesnt have a nightclub or swim up bar. The grounds are well attended but there are some repairs required to the main pool (tiles) and some of the rooms. Great food, friendly staff and good proximity to Playa del Carmen

First trip to Mexico

Posted Aug 16, 2015
Cons: Need more golf carts for transportation. Needs to improve air conditioning.
Overall the stay was OK. The air conditioner worked only on the high setting but it made so much noise it became irritating very quickly. The entire staff was very helpful, friendly and responded quickly to any concerns we had. The buffet restaurant, the steak house, and Italian restaurants were good but needed more waiters. The Asian restaurant was a waste of time, the food was not very good. Our adventure excursion with the zip lines, repelling, swimming in the underground cave and the Mayan ruins was excellent. Our guide Julio was exceptional. Very friendly and very knowledgeable. Would recommend this excursion. Must have plenty of mosquito spray and sun screen. Impressed by the cleanliness of the local town and the Wal-Mart store.

Nice hotel

Posted Aug 6, 2015
Hotel was nice but beware all room buildings are far from lobby/food. The resort is so big they have a shuttle inside that only runs every 30 mins. If yourr active your fine if not beware. The staff was overbearing everytime we passed lobby promoting the excursions. The staff conducting exercises ar pool were fun! The pool was beautiful but too warm....its so hot you crave cool water and its not cool. The drinks were all watered down but if you tip the bartenders youre good to go. Two days out of our 5 day stay, they had a "street fair", carnivale, & had a Mexican band playing while they had a mechanical bull ride in one bar whuch was fun. I didn't stay during the weekend so maybe they have more night events then. Free WiFi was super slow...we purchased hi-speed service and that was way better but not through entire resort. You had to reserve a good fancy dinner each day and thats annoying so we stood at daily buffet instead. Food was always delicious!!!! Overall the rsort was very clean...everyday! There are coatis running sround during the day looking for food so that was awesome to see. The cleaning staff was always on point with our room we loved that...fresh towels and toiletries sll tge time. I stood in cancun in 2004 and had more fun but it was nice here. Not sure ill return.

Beach disappointment

Posted Aug 3, 2015
We visited this hotel in late July and to our disappointment found out upon arrival that the beach, the ocean and the sand under it was covered with algae. There were tons of algae that when exposed to the sun smelled like rotten fish and made the sand under the water feel like red clay sucking your feet under (terrible feeling!) Needless to say, we did not take advantage of the beach as much as we wanted, which was the main reason of our visit to PdC. We also experience a lot of pressure from some of their employees to attend a presentation of their other properties over breakfast; this seemed to us like a time share-type of thing and were not interested -we just wanted to relax for a week. On the other hand, their "a-la-carte" restaurants were pretty good with good staff and a good menu selection on most of them. They were constantly cleaning the common areas and people were very polite and helpful in general.

Great restaurants

Posted Jul 25, 2015
Hotel staff is super nice. Wifi not so good. The business center wasn't working. Restaurants were great and loved the open 24hr bar. There was something to eat at any time. I only suggest they get more golf carts to give rides to the people staying at the resort. Prepare to walk.
