“Hapuu room is a magical and very cozy spot with an intimate view into giant ferns and forest. The other guests in adjacent cabinswere very charming. We were all checking in at dark in heavy rain — note, the driveway is dark driveway and coming from Hilo and Jade Street, it is technically the second last on the right from the Ruby Street end of Second Street (the last driveway is a yard) — we were bumbling around but eventually took a dive and walked down into the dark and it was the right place……

“This house was so beautiful! We loved the architecture, the art & decor, and enjoyed the back porch with the jacuzzi! Our teenage son also loved having his own room with a bathroom off the back porch. A perfect house to go and enjoy the Volcano National Park! We enjoyed the Lanikai Brewing Company and went back twice for the pizza! ”

As long as you know what your getting into, a small cabin with screened kitchen in the middle of the rainforest and not expecting a 5 star resort...then this is a literal slice of heaven. The sounds of night are incredible. And prepare foe your jaw to hit the ground when you see the swimming hole.”

“We had a great stay! The place was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. The host was friendly, responsive, and made the whole process easy. The river was very nice and we really enjoyed spending time there. One thing to note is that it can be a bit difficult to find after dark, as it’s easy to drive past due to how dark the area is. Also, a 4-wheel drive vehicle is definitely recommended since the road is not paved. It was an easy drive in a Jeep, but lower-clearance vehicles may have……
