Also the whirlpool, sauna and steam room and fitness/exercise rooms in the lower level are excellent [the sauna and steam weren't always on and heated up when I went down but maybe I was the first for the day = I didn't want to wait so enjoyed the whirlpool]"

"Loved our visit. We usually stay here when we go to Iowa, but our last visit was terrible. Unfriendly staff made sure we went somewhere else. I contacted corporate, and they said changes were being made at the property, so I thought we'd give it another shot. I'm glad we did. Friendly folks from the front desk to the housekeeping staff. Carpets and amenities are being updated. A+++ and we will stay there again!"

"This was our 2nd time staying at this hotel and we had another great visit. Hotel is perfectly located for events at Drake University. Room was spacious, spotless and comfortable. We interacted with 3 different front desk employees during our visit and they were all very friendly and helpful."

"When I walked up to the desk, there were two gentlemen behind it. One was helping another guest, and one was chugging Dr. Thunder from a two liter bottle. I stood there for quite some time not being acknowledged by either person. Eventually the gentleman helping the other guest finished up, and invited me over to his portion of the desk. The other man whom I was standing in front of, ignored me and kept chugging his drink and checking his phone. A simple "he will be with you in a moment" would have done wonders for the first impression. The place is old, but well kept and clean, but terrible customer service from the other man when you first walk in. "
