Majestic paradise ***During the week

Posted Jun 11, 2017
Pros: Everything...jungle setting, plunge pools in every villa, beautiful beach, excellent service, great food!!
Cons: The noise coming from neighboring hotels can be a bit annoying on the weekends. Hotel needs to communicate wto guests when hosting events.
Location: Snorkeling at Puerto Morelos on the reef is excellent!! Harry's steakhouse in Playa is outstanding!!
20th Anniversary trip, and we researched every and all properties in the area. We are so happy we chose the Viceroy Riviera Maya, and had a romantic, peaceful, secluded, enjoyable trip..for the most part. The check in process was seamless, informative, and the mayan blessing started off the stay with a cultural and spiritual feeling. The villa (#36 luxury villa) was perfect. Well taken care of, nice furnishings, plush towels, linens, and robes. A wonderful, jungle covered patio with running springs we could hear directly behind our fence, lovely plunge pool that can double as a hot tub if you ask the staff to up the temp, an outdoor shower area that is well maintained, great water pressure, and beautifully landscaped. I cant imagine any reason you wouldn't be completely satisfied with these accommodations...seriously outstanding! (Very minimal bugs/mosquitos) (The scent from the ozone type machine in the room is excellent and leaves a lovely, light aroma throughout the villa)...i forgot to ask what the scent is but i must know :) ***Service! Service! Service! We are well traveled, but have never experienced such genuine, warm, welcoming service at a resort in Mexico. The resort staff is so well trained and so comfortable providing above and beyond service you will truly be astonished. Not one time were my wife or I walking through the jungle path that when passing a staff member did they not stop, move to the side of the path, smile and greet us as we passed...every sing

Dear Stephen Cody, Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay. We are very proud of our team and our facilities, and we are glad to hear that both exceeded your expectations, this is something we strive to achieve with all of our guests. P.S. The scented aroma we use for our villas is Citrus. Best regards

Fabulous villas and setting yet the level of noise from next door hotel was terrible and impacting on a beautiful setting. Service was also inconsistent. If you want an amazing setting for half of the day and then extremely loud music until midnight then this is your place. Disappointed

Please take me back!!!

Posted Jun 6, 2017
This is the perfect place to disconnect from reality...rest, relax and recharge. There are only 41 rooms, which means everything is available to you and it's peaceful and serene. The rooms are amazing, just like the photos. You could order room service and essentially never leave. The attention to detail here is impeccable. Francisco and Marcos at the beach/pool will lay out your towel, bring your beer in its own ice bucket and come by frequently with your fresh squeezed watermelon juice margarita! The internet/phone service sucks and that's precisely why I came to Mexico! To disconnect! This is not the hotel for you if you're looking to party so keep that in mind.

Amazing hospitality!

Posted Jun 1, 2017
Every moment of everyday my wife and I spent there was more amazing than the previous. The staff provided warm authentic service. The property was perfectly maintained and groomed. The food and beverage was spectacular. This place is perfect for a couple celebrating their honeymoon or as in our case our 20th anniversary.

Private villas, personable staff

Viceroy was an incredible resort. The staff is very kind and ready to get you whatever you need. With a maximum capacity of 90 people it never feels crowded.

Peace and Tranquility

Posted May 20, 2017
Pros: Staff, location, comfort, food
Cons: Small point, but the quality of the frozen drinks isn't all that great. Too icy...
Location: PDC city is great for dinner/drinks one night. Mayakoba is a must for a fine dining experience Tulum is 1.5 hours for ruins
The Viceroy PDC was one of the most relaxing and peaceful vacations I've ever experienced. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the food is high quality, the setting is idyllic, and the rooms are very comfortable. If you're looking for complete relaxation directly on the beach, this is the place for you. Definitely not for kids (which was what we were looking for). Prepare to be taken care of completely by the staff. We will definitely go back.

Lovely, secluded Hotel on the beach

Posted May 18, 2017
This was a wonderful stay, the hotel starts with a wonderful check in process that does not include standing in line-rather, it is relaxing and lovely. The room with an outdoor shower was also wonderful. Food at breakfast and lunch was delicious, with a beautiful view of the beach. The beach itself looks great, but it is difficult to swim in the water because of coral and rocks and seaweed. But because of the great beach side seating, it doesn't really matter. We had a fantastic time relaxing in front of the water and enjoyed the quiet hotel.

Amazing villas in the jungle!

Posted May 17, 2017
Pros: Service, food, drinks and staff. And rooms!
Cons: Nothing
I found the Viceroy hotel in a google search and booked it after reading the reviews and seeing the photos. The hotel far exceeded my expectations. The best service I have ever had. The occasion was my daughters' 21st birthday. Our room was beautifully decorated with balloons and a "cake". And the celebration continued for our entire trip. Each person we encountered was helpful, friendly and made our trip special. Incredible food, room service, drinks and accomodations with a special call out to the outdoor shower. You will love this place and we can't wait to go back.

What a disappointing experience!

Posted May 8, 2017
Pros: the wait staff and the pool restaurant and bar.
Cons: be honest about the hotel rating. This was a complete con job.
Location: too far out of town and it definitely isn't a safe place.
The hotel is way overrated. Definitely not a 4.8 as was advertised on Expedia. The gym was extremely tiny and only 1 of the 3 treadmills were working. On Saturday evening a taxi cab driver was shot and killed a few blocks from our hotel and we had to wait 2 hours before we could get back into our hotel. While we were waiting my girlfriend got stung by some kind of bug and there was no medicine available at the hotel. -Nothing. The front desk had her talk to a Doctor but the hotel had nothing available to treat the bite. On Sunday night the hotel next door had an event and the band was so loud we couldn't get to sleep until 1:30 am. I called down to complain 3 times and nothing happened. The person that checked us out said that they would have the manager talk to us. He never showed up. There is only 2 restaurants on the property. The food was ok but not great.

Dear Mr. Brad W., We genuinely hope Mrs. Leanne is now in good health. Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback about your most recent stay and we truly regret the undesirable experience. I am very sorry to read that we were not able fulfill your expectations as per your original report my Front Desk team were in touch with you to offered assistance. I am aware and I can assure you that my staff did their outmost and all possible to satisfy your needs by following up with you in regards to medical aid which was presented to you several times. I am aware that our efforts to compensate with a Spa discount was not accepted therefore I thank you for your patience during that time; I understand the size of the gymnasium was not up to your expectations and that the unexpected emergency maintenance we had to perform on the treadmill did not contribute to the enjoyment to our facility. Continuously improving our performance in all areas is our main task. We appreciate your recent visit in the hopes to welcome you again to have a taste of our Resort with better expectations as It is our goal that all of our guests' visits be incident free. Regards,

Ok hotel

Posted May 6, 2017
Pros: The fact there were only 40 or so rooms and the staff.
Cons: The cleanliness of the pools. Get rid of the service fees. We felt like we had to tip as well as pay the service fee.
Location: Not much to do at the location except go to the beach.
Hotel staff were amazing! The music from the hotel next door is out of control. The staff have said they have had to call the cops on them in the past. Very hard to sleep when it's that loudtill midnight. The pools in our room was so dirty we never got in it. We could handle the leaves but it doesn't filter the water at all. Not appeasing. Also they charge a high tax on food and services plus a service fee on all food and services. It was way cheaper to go eat at cocos next door with no tax and no fees. They are amazing over there.
