“Pretty nice stay overall. Location's clean and quiet. Deer and peacocks around if you like those. Hard to get lost. Only 5 miles off from stores if you need to pick something up. Negatives: I'm short and had a hard time reaching things, so I had to buy a stool (that's a me problem, I realize). The wi-fi never worked so I had to rely on mobile data (TV streamed through satellite so that was fine). Dealt with a lot of spiders and flies. Didn't try the hot tub because two wasps were hanging around……

“We were wanting a camping experience- and this property offered that. Our kids especially enjoyed the pool and hanging around the campfire. Fishing was fun. I didn’t see an easy way to put a kayak into the lake, but it would be possible off of the dock. We visited Giant City state park - about 25 minutes away.”

“We stayed a week in the Shagbark Cabin April 18-25, 2026 and the VRBO listing descriptions and photos do not do the property justice. This lodging exceeded our expectations. The cabin is situated on 30-40 acres of older growth forest, similar to the Shawnee National Forest area. There are well marked hiking trails right there on the property. The cabin was equipped with everything you would need and more, including a washer/dryer ensemble. Everything was spotless clean and the beds are super……
