Terrible situation

Posted Apr 10, 2014
Pros: 1. the distance from the airport. 2. the kindness of the staff.
Cons: Everything!!!
As Econolodge the Hotel was perfect according to prices, but as DaysInn is like entering in hell. Maybe because they were in the process of the changes. Even a coffee at the lobby they were not able to offer. But I have to admit that the personnel were very polite and they are doing the best effort to satisfy the customers they have to do a lot to bring the Hotel at an acceptable level.

This motel is near the airport but that's pretty much all it has going for it.

Not exactly family friendly

Pros: It was very clean, except for the rusty and black stained tub. We did not get close enough to find out if it was dirt. Close to airport.
Cons: Certainly the busy parking lot showed on the security feed. Mentioning this, or offering us a room in another section might have been options.
Location: Delightfully close to the airport. Scarily close to a several story, flashing purple bar.
My daughter and I had an early flight out of Newark, so I took advantage of a great rate on Expedia and booked this hotel that was described as close to the airport. The location was fabulous as far as airport proximity goes, one right hand turn brings you on a straight shot to the airport entrance. If we had arrived before dark we might have had a different impression, but we visited with relatives late into the night and drove in circles trying to find this Days Inn. We called and were graciously redirected and given well known store and gas station landmarks to follow. However, the real landmark, significantly easier to find than the Days Inn sign, is the large bar next door, which sports flashing purple lights. It was too late to be picky, and way too late to hunt down another hotel for the three hours of sleep that we had left. The front desk staff was very nice, but did not prepare us for a parking lot occupied by three carloads of men. In my quick observation as we grabbed our bags and dashed across the lot and up the stairs these men were not unpacking and moving into their rooms. No one approached us or even spoke to us, but still it creeped us out. All of those cars were gone at 4am when we left. The room was clean, as was the sink area. The tub was stained with rust and something black that we did not investigate. And it turns out that that there was at least one other family there - we could hear a man yelling at his crying baby to shut up and go to sleep.

Not really worth the money.

It had an over powering put fumed smell. Almost like they were trying to cover up some other smell. The handle was loose to the bathroom, so my daughter was afraid she was going to get stuck in it. We went down in the morning for the "continental" breakfast and were handed a white lunch sack for each person. These contained a generic granola bar, a mini banana loaf, a red delicious apple and a juice box.
