bad a/cPosted Jul 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
I have been in hotels with inadequate a/c before but this was especially bad. First the thermostat was locked on 24 c and could not be lowered. When I complained they said that it could not be changed. Later they lowered it but it didn't matter as the temperature never got below 27c.They said that yeah the 3rd floor does have trouble staying cool. This was a family place full of screaming kids, not the place for a couple trying to escape.

Solaris Hotel Ivan --a shamePosted Aug 11, 2011 on Hotels.com
It's a shame that a resort with so much to offer in such a beautiful place has to have rooms that leave much to be desired. Outside our room, we felt like we were staying in a 3-4 star resort. Inside our room, we felt like we were in a semi-derelict youth hostel. We had to make our own beds, find our own toilet paper, ask for clean towels, etc. The housekeeping service amounted to dumping sheets on our bed but NOT cleaning the bathroom, which had no ventilation and years worth of mildew/grime in it. The beds and pillows felt like bags full of wadded t-shirts, and the shower water was only warm in the very early morning. We thought we'd left the university dorms behind us! As for the resort, while it had a huge amount of activities available, a number of restaurants, etc., we felt we were being nickel and dimed wherever we went--being charged for this and that constantly. As for administration, the hotel was on the whole understaffed, but the staff were nice and I believe were trying their best. However, our passports were left out on a desk, unattended for ANYONE in the hotel passing by to take. We had to ask the reception staff to move them to a safer place behind the reception area.

Tired rooms in a great resortPosted Jul 2, 2011
The resort is both good and bad. First the good; the beaches and surrounds are great with loads of beach bars and activities. Although it is disappointing they make you pay for a spot on the beach. Then the bad; the rooms are old and very tired. The a/c does not cope withe the heat and the beds are small and uncomfortable. In summary a four star resort but with only 2-3 star rooms. Food was reasonable and the overall cost makes it good value for money. I suggest the half board is sufficient as the full board will leave you over-full and is wasted if you spend a day at the nearby; truly spectacular, Krka national park.
