“Couldn't fault it”

We stayed overnight at the Park Inn after our son's wedding just before Christmas. We arrived late and checked in quickly. Breakfast was included in the deal which we thought would be an extra. The choice and service was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful.

“Great hotel”

We only stayed for one night and the staff were all exceedingly helpful and courteous. The bedrooms we had were in a little need of decorating but the beds were very comfy and the room was exceptionally clean. We make use of the Spa areas which set us up nicely for a night out. The hotel is a 5 minute walking distance to the centre of town so bars and restaurants are easy to get to.

“Handy for Liverpool”

Perfect for an overnight stay. Less than great: rooms were a bit warm; the bar/dining area and (small, suitable for kids) pool are too close together; bathrooms are a little tired. Great: the staff were extremely helpful; rooms were large and well equipped; everything was very clean; they are even upgrading the hotel. I will stay again when I am up in the area.

“Nice, comfortable hotel at a very good price”

I made a last minute booking through Expedia and got an excellent rate (cheaper than the local Premier Inn, or Travel Lodge). The Park Inn is also in the town centre (not necessarily an advantage for everyone, but better than being stuck out on the East Lancs road !). The hotel was clean, well ordered and the staff were very polite & helpful. It's not a 5 star experience (although I believe it used to be a Hilton), but the rooms are very comfortable and the facilities are good (dining room, pool, fitness room etc). I would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting St Helens. My only slight irritation was with the temperamental entry barrier for the car park ! Otherwise, all was good. I didn't have dinner in the hotel, so I can't comment on the restaurant, but the cooked breakfast was very good, if a little expensive.

“Fantastic Food and more”

I stayed at the hotel for a Dinner Dance. The food was the best hotel food I have ever had. This is the 4th year I have attended the event and the food has always been good, and it was even better this year. The refurbished rooms are really nice too. Comfortable and clean, lovely thick towels, plenty of hot water. Great service as well, both on reception and serving at the dinner. The staff really wanted to help. What more could you ask for.

“Past its best”

This hotel is looking weary, the bathroom in the room was poor. Generally needs a good refurb.

“noisy in the morning, wifi is not free”

Likes: Only Hotel in St Helens which is very close (4 mins) to our friend's house. Rooms are refurbished, clean and in good condition. Free Parking Dislikes: Wifi is not free, you will need to pay! so we didn't used it. Paid the hotel fee on Expedia already, but the stuff was telling me I have not paid, and had a long discussion with them to sort this out. wasted 30 mins of my time. Waked by noise of cleaners in hall way and refurbish workers for 2 days..... around 9AM.

“Not a pleasant experience”

We arrived just after a heatwave. The air conditioning was non existent and the windows did not open. All we had to keep us cool was a small fan that just recirculated to already hot air around the room. We complained and the staff moved us to a cooler room. The air conditioning still didn't work, but we did get a second fan! Then we found that the plug in the basin didn't work (it would not allow the basin to drain). We complained again but it could not be fixed and rather than move for a third time, we resorted to brushing our teeth and washing in the bath! This hotel is in dire need of refitting or refurbishing - it looks tired and clearly things are not working as they should. I could not recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff were helpful and did all they could, but was a limit to what they could do.
