“The view is great but the experience is the worst I’ve had so far… As a long-time customer of the Hilton group, I am very surprised with the “Urban Destination Charge” that was unilaterally imposed on me during my recent stay at the Motto by Hilton New York City Chelsea in June 2024. I find this charge to be highly problematic for several reasons. First and foremost, there was a complete lack of transparency and consent regarding this mandatory charge. “The location of the hotel was perfect for my daughter and I as we wanted to shop in Soho and hit restaurants in the West and Greenwich Village areas. The staff was very nice at the hotel. Our room was very clean. We shared a room with two twin beds pushed together. The room was nicer than it looked online and bigger than we expected. There is a 10% discount given at a local parking garage. My only complaint was that the price of this room was extremely high. There was a complimentary breakfast……

“Rooms at the Maritime are “shipshape”— compact and well thought out. Spectacular views from every porthole window. Generous amenities including an exceptional complimentary breakfast in an attractive, respectfully hush lobby. Complimentary New York Times to read by the lobby fireplace. Staff is genuinely friendly and responsive. Great location. ”

“Terrible service, noisy surroundings.** There were car horns and constant mechanical noise all night, making it impossible to sleep. Starting at 9 AM, there was loud, sharp construction noise in the building, and the cleaning staff kept slamming doors, creating even more disturbance. The accommodation conditions were very poor and we couldn’t get any rest. This was by far our worst stay ever. The hotel refused to offer any compensation or adjustment, and didn’t allow us to check out early……
