    Best Times to Visit

Because of its sheer variety of destinations, there is no bad time to visit California. The most popular time of year is late spring through early summer, when the beautiful California weather is in full swing. You can hit the beach in sunny San Diego or Los Angeles, view the spectacular waterfalls and wildflower blooms in Yosemite National Park, or take a scenic stroll through the verdant countryside of Napa Valley. September through October is an ideal time to visit Disneyland®, Knott’s Berry Farm®, Universal Studios®, and many of the state's other popular tourist attractions as the weather is still comfortable, but there are fewer crowds and slightly lower prices. Fall is also a great time to visit some of the state's desert attractions, such as Death Valley and Joshua Tree National Park. In the winter, California's numerous ski resorts serve as the perfect destinations for hitting the slopes and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

    Geography

California is very much a land of contrasts with varied geography that runs the gamut from parched, sunbaked deserts in the south to temperate, misty forests and snow-capped mountain ranges in the north. The state is home to portions of the beautiful Sierra Nevada and Cascade Ranges, including the towering spire of Mount Whitney, which stands as the tallest peak in the Lower 48. The Coast Ranges, famed for the towering coast redwoods that thrive in the mountainous terrain, run along the western portion of the state. Between the mountain ranges, the Central Valley is home to both bucolic farmlands and inland cities such as Sacramento. Bordering the Pacific Ocean, the western coast of California is world-renowned for its unique terrain and stunning vistas. With so many different climates and environments, there truly are resorts in California for just about everyone. Let Expedia.com help you find the perfect fit for your West Coast escape.

Second time here in view of attending a conference in dreary Long Beach. Evidently, Terranea's main selling point is its magnificent setting on a peninsula of the Pacific Coast. The grounds are well manicured. The staff is, overall, pleasant and well-trained. The restaurants offer relatively good food albeit at a high price point (not entirely unexpected in this type of secluded hotel). Nelson's, for its setting, and Sea Beans, for a quick bite on the go, are the ones that stand out. The rooms are well-appointed but lack the small touches to give them the personality and character found in today's true 5 star resorts around the world. Comfortable nonetheless. If I were to have a gripe, the $38 parking/night surcharge seems a little silly to me seeing as there is no derth of space on the premises. So, in the end, Terranea is one of those hotels that is really more of a 4.5/5 than a true 5. Unlike others, however, it does have the potential to reach 5 star star status should it aspire to do so.

"Across the street from ship terminal"
The hotel is older and needs a bit of updating, but the location was perfect. The hotel is directly across the street from the ship terminal. You honestly couldn't get any closer. We walked out the hotel door, crossed the street and we were there. Near lots of restaurants and typical beach tourist attractions. The only restaurant attached to the hotel was Hazelwood's On The Bay, and it was more like a convenience store that served sandwiches. Let's just say the cook was having a bad morning when we were in there. The staff was ok. I wouldn't say they were overly friendly or made me feel special in any way. However for the convenience of this hotel to the ship terminal, I would stay here again. If you are vacationing for an extended period of time, there is probably something a little nicer in the area.

"Beautiful hotel in the heart of Union Square"
My family and I Stayed at Parc 55 for my brothers graduation from San Francisco State University. The hotel is very close to AT&T Park where the graduation commencement was held. The hotel is very modern and clean and the staff is very helpful and professional. The only negatives I noticed were: the strong winds were very noticeable as it sounded like the windows were open when they werent and The kitchen closes at 10:35pm... On a Friday night. Other than that, this hotel exceeded my expectations and is very worth the price we paid.
