Someone's leftover chewing gum on counter top.
"Last minute booking through hotels.com, the receptionist was very active (at 11 pm). The room was ok, big enough for solo traveller. But it had a cigarette smell despite it was stated as "none-smoking". Also the towels had stains, and someone's chewing gum leftover sticking on the bathroom counter. ..."
