    Pocket Guide: Caribbean

Book a cruise to set sail towards a vacation of a lifetime. The adventure and excitement of a Caribbean vacation are waiting for you. There are hundreds of islands in the vast sea region waiting for tourists to visit. The warm tropical weather is one of the main reasons that thousands of tourists visit the islands every year. The beaches are pristine with white sand and clear, aqua waters. Picture yourself sitting on a strategically placed beach chair with a tropical drink in one hand and a juicy book in the other.

There are great hidden secrets in the Caribbean corridor. One little known treasure lies within the British Virgin Islands. There are 16 islands in this cluster, and they are all magnificent. Lying in a hammock between two palm trees, sipping on a cool drink and watching the beach revelers is a common realxing activity in the islands. There is no hurry to be anywhere, and the stunning scenery may coax you into adding a few days to your vacation. The hotels on these islands are privately owned making the experience more personal.

The U.S. Virgin Islands consist of St. Thomas, St. Croix, and St. John. St. Thomas is the most luxurious of the three islands where you will likely see yachts lining the waterways. St. Croix offers a more relaxed atmosphere that is less inhabited than the other two islands. On this island, sugar cane plantations provide lush green views for tourists to enjoy. Tours of the rum factories are available where taste testing is encouraged. St. John is a honeymooner's delight. It is comprised of more than 7,000 acres of park lands that entice nature-minded guests.

Jamaica is a favorite spot for people traveling to the Caribbean. Reggae music is as much a part of this set of islands as clear water and sunshine. Take a good camera when you visit these islands because the waterfalls and Blue Mountains make the scenery picture perfect. Dancing with a rum drink in your hand is as likely an adventure as scuba diving or snorkeling.

Caribbean vacations are for people who love the sand and surf. The options are endless and available to people from all walks of life. Each island has unique offerings that entice vacationers from around the world. Regardless of which island you decide to visit, you have a wonderful journey in store.

    "Best place ever! "
I can't believe the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the entire resort, and everything was perfect. Everyone there did everything they could to make us feel special! Some people complain about the timeshare sales. As soon as the guy came up to me I told him I had no interest whatsoever. I never saw him for the whole 10 days after that that we were there. Our room was amazing! The bed was extremely comfortable, they had a pillow menu to satisfy everyone's special needs for a special pillow. Room service was prompt and the food was delicious. All of the restaurants had a nice variety to choose from. I was not fond of the steak at the steakhouse, but I know traveling out of the US, anyone can tell you if you want steaks go to the US. We stayed on the adult side, the Royal side.every meal was amazing, every meal was extremely well presented. we met some wonderful people and I'm certain we made some new friends that will stay in touch with. This was truly all inclusive, because we were on the Royal side. We had unlimited access to every restaurant and every meal and every drink. As far as the value is concerned, this place far exceeded what we paid. We are already making plans to go back in October and again next year in May. We will certainly go back twice a year from now on. I wish we would have found this place years ago!

    "Excellent resort. Exceeded my expectations!"
Resort staff friendly. Excellent food in restaurants. Always daily activities around pool and beach. Also there were areas at the pool that was quiet and secluded, away from activities if you wanted. Many fun excursions to participate in away from resort.

We were looking for a budget place for one night in Old San Juan, and that's what we got. Great location next to open plaza, clean, safe, very walkable area. We took an interior windowless room, very basic, a bit musty but that's to be expected. Old and somewhat rundown. Friendly, helpful staff. Overall, low expectations met.

long wait for check in. very expensive food in hotel. the pizza in the trattoria was good but the gelato was watery and not good. we ate breakfast on the last day at the terraza and ordered a la carte and we thought it was the worst breakfast we had in all of puerto rico. the bakery basket wasn't fresh, the eggs were super runny even though they confirmed they would be medium, and the service was terrible too. it's as if they didn't want you there. disappointed that there was an extra charge to use beach umbrellas. also felt like we were given the worst room off to the corner overlooking the parking lot with no balcony. such a small bathroom but that's probably same with every room. at least it was fairly clean (although one of the drawers did have the previous guest's garbage still in it) and bed was comfortable too. I liked the fact that they had blackjack in the casino with 10 and 15 dollar tables. i was not offered a player's card, if there is one, so my losses were not tracked. The grounds are really nice with two pools; one quiet one and one louder one with music and a pool bar. we spent most of our time on the beach though. overall we enjoyed our stay as we spent most of our time on the grounds or exploring other parts of san juan. it was nice to be close to airport. I think less than 10 min cab ride.

"Mixed reviews, some good, some not."
Room was small but clean. View of an alley out French doors. Cable TV operation and content not very good. Beds were 2 single, and small but decent, lighting was terrible in the room, very low levels with all lights on. OK during the day when the balcony doors were open, but dark in the evening. Swimming pool ok for 2, no more, Jacuzzi was ok, could have been warmer. Staff was friendly and responsive. We ate there 2 times in our 5 night stay, was ok, not great although pricey. The last night we had dinner there and it was not good, service (we waited forever) was poor and the food was worse. Complained(which we rarely do) and the MGR took it off our hotel bill thank God. The location is great, lots of street activity and the Cathederal nearby add a lot and the wine and cheese reception is fun. Overall ambience is quite nice, but you pay for it. Not your typical cookie cutter hotel, offers much in the way of architexture and history, but could do better.
