“America's So-So Value Inn”
The hotel staff were very friendly and pleasant to deal with. This is an older Country Hearth hotel that has been converted to an America's Best Value Inn. The outside facade is in poor shape - plaster is coming off in places. The continental breakfast consists of cold cereal and toast. There was no in-room coffee maker, but the room did have an ironing board, a microwave and a mini-fridge.
“Sleep in your car”
I expected to pay beyond-premium rates for the hotel on a weekend with many events going on. The only positive thing about the stay was that my wife was not with me, because I would not have let her stay in a place like that. A/C did not work, room was filthy, receptacles did not work to charge my phone, I did not dare walk in the room without shoes, it smelled badly, and there was no security at all except for the floodlight that was pointed into my room (with the damaged curtain doing little to obstruct it). There were no other available rooms in the hotel - I was told that I got a "good one".
“Horrible, Simply Horrible”
I booked this hotel during graduation weekend in Bloomington, so it was overpriced to begin with. Then, we arrive in our room to find water damage on the ceiling, ants in the bathroom, and questionable stains on the carpet. This place advertises free wireless Internet, but I couldn't get reception in my room. When I called the front desk, they said user volume was preventing me from getting service and I should try again later. I tried several times at different hours of the day and was never able to get in. When I asked at the front desk again, they said the wireless access is only available in the lobby, not in the rooms. So, they lied to me. Basically, avoid this hotel at all costs.
“Skip this Hotel”
This is a reincarnation of an old hotel and not very well done. Carpets are faded and the overall appearance of the hotel is seedy.
“HAD NIGHTMARE BEFORE I FELL ASLEEP”
The hotel was dirty. Stains on carpet.Beds uncomfortable. The pool area was pad locked and being used as storage. Smelled very musty. Entrance way leaked on you if it was raining. Profanity etched onto walls in elevator.Free breakfast set out wasn't enough to feed one family let alone all that had stayed there. Air conditioner was good and the TV did work. Only two good points about the whole place. We almost went somewhere else but it was a holiday weekend with ball tournament in town so hotels were pretty full. I will never stay at another Country Hearth Inn. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED.Thank God for lysol!
“Bloomington bomb”
Paint was chipped all over, Carpet was filthy. It was the worst place I have ever spent the night. Only place in town I was told.
“What a dump!!! The place is filthy, has bed bugs, paint peeling from walls, needs to be demolished.”
We arrived at 4:00 am and were extremely tired from a long drive up from Georgia. The place is a dump. Very old hotel, needs to be demolished. Paint peeling off walls, carpet is black and dirty, original color was green. I refused to walk on the carpet without shoes. I always carry bleach and comet with me so I will not comment on the bathroom. I cleaned it myself before using anything. Bed felt like we were laying on plywood with towels on top, very uncomfortable. We tried to rest for a few hours before leaving but could not, something kept biting us. The bed had bed bugs. We called the front desk and checked out immediately. The hotels next to it look just as bad so we found another hotel about 2 miles to the west and rested comfortably that weekend. I will say the hotel attendant was very nice when I checked in and the other person was very nice when I checked out. Since I booked the hotel through Expedia, I had to call to get my money credited back to my credit card. The hotel manager approved my refund upon request. No hassles. We passed several other Country Hearth Inns on our way up to Bloomington and I had no idea this is what we had in store.
“BAD!!!!!”
The first room we were put in, had no remote for the TV, but that was because the TV didn't work. Also had no toilet paper in the bathroom, which make you think the room was never cleaned, no ice bucket either. Second room had no TP, no ice bucket no coffe maker. Housekeeping called to see if we needed anything told them what we needed, and ended up going to front desk later that evening to get TP!!!!! There was constant distruptions during the late night early morning hours, one incident involved someone saying she was the manager and was removing a guest from the hotel. very loud and vulgar woman....
“Bugs & Liars”
I stayed in this hotel for two nights. On the first night, one of our party found bugs in their bed. They moved them to another room, but no one slept well thinking about the bugs. The Manager said that it will be taken care of with Espedia for some sort of refund. After the trip, Expedia said they weren't contacted and that the hotel said no complaint was made, and that they didn't even switch rooms. A boldface lie.
“never again”
The appearance of this hotel, both inside and out was run down and seedy. Our bathroom sink was held up by a 2 by 4. The breakfast was not much of anything consisting of a continental breakfast. Our overall experience was not pleasant and we definately will not be returning.
