Perfect venue to get away from your worries!Posted Jun 7, 2012 on Hotels.com
We loved every moment of our stay at the Thorn Tree. Our 3 nights were sufficient, but a few more nights would have been great too. The staff is super accomodating, and the welcome was the warmest we'd ever received. Food was fine, the grounds were immaculate, and the room was like something in a dream. We were thrilled that there was no TV or phone in the rooms-no chatter to distract from the sound of the river and hippos. Pay attention to the season of your trip: the evenings were quite chilly and some lodges have no heat.

A lovely, quite haven on the edge of the Zambezi.Posted Mar 29, 2012
Pros: Wonderful staff. Beautiful setting. Delightful cottage rooms.
Cons: We wanted to stay longer!
Location: Clean, quiet, peaceful setting on the river's edge.
This is a magical place on the Zambezi River, in the middle of a national park. There are nine cottages nestled among the trees on the river's edge. Ours was a clean, cozy haven with a very comfortable bed, large walk-in shower, and a nice porch where we sat with coffee to watch the sunrise over the Zambezi River. My wife and I found the staff to be warm, friendly, and exceptionally efficient. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were fresh and delicious - the best meals we had in Africa! We loved seeing the elephants and monkeys on the property. We also went on a guided lion walk, a guided tour of nearby Victoria Falls, and an early morning game drive. If you want a quiet retreat, away from the crowds, this is an ideal place.
