Pros: Decent coffee.
Location: At the edge of town.
Quoted price was for 6 nights. Actual cost was much higher with no explanation. Tiny room. No blanket, just a heavy cotton bedspread. Cheap hard flat foam pillows.

Maui is paradise regardless of where you stay...Posted Apr 21, 2013
Cons: Cleanliness, lack of maid service
We stayed at this B&B for 10 days. I knew the place was for sale and had my concerns since I read that for that reason it seemed like the owner does not care that much about guests. Now, the location is good. You can walk to Lahaina main strip and Old Lahaina Lua (which I highly recommend you attend). We were also pleased to received breakfast vouchers ($10 each) to go to Lulu's Restaurant and were not disappointed. The food was local and great! In general our stay was OK. We were not planning on staying in the room most of the time so it served its purpose. However, I would not recommend the place because they lack attention to details that should be a given. For example, when we got there we noticed that towels were not clean. We were not staying in a 5 star hotel but were expecting as a minimum cleanliness. Also, even thought we stayed longer than 4 days and they promise to clean your room after 3 or 4 days we never received a single maid visit. There are a hundred notes advising you what do and what not to do (remember there is no reception or anyone on site most of the time) so the little notes everywhere made sense. However, it seemed to me it was a one-way communication -they expect certain rules to be followed but they did not adhere to the promises they made. In general the stay was OK..Penny's Place would be a great place to stay if they go back to that that customer-service approach that gave them good ratings a few years ago.

great stayPosted Jan 28, 2013
This is the first time my husband and I stayed at a bed and breakfast. I rated service a 3 because there was no one to meet us upon arrival or departure. In fact, all there really was were computer typed instructions detailing how we go about our stay. Overall, great experience without any significant complaints. I would definitely come back again...if they don't sell it. Yes, the place is for sale.

Just what we wanted.Posted Oct 16, 2012
Pros: Personal and clean
Location: Top spot
Exactly what we wanted from a B&B. Penny runs a nice quiet establishment, suited to couples. The place is tidy, penny is friendly and informative about local going ons and the breakfast is simple yet tasty. Breakfast is served between 8 and 9 which may not suit some people but we enjoyed it as it was an opportunity to meet and talk to other guests and the owner herself. Will stay again, thanks Penny for making our time in Maui so pleasant.

A little bit of ParadisePosted Feb 14, 2012
Pros: After spending the previous week at a resort in Kauai, we were happy to be at Penny's B&B with only 3 other couples. It was much more relaxing.
Cons: Traffic sounds were very evident at night since we chose to sleep with the windows open rather than the available air-conditioner.
Location: Penny's is located on Front Street which is the main street of Lahaina. This made shopping very convenient and nearby.
We felt very welcomed at Penny's Place and enjoyed the continental breakfast --especially the local fruit. It was so much better than what we get here because it's so fresh. Penny joined us each morning ready to answer our questions and give suggestions if they were needed. We thoroughly enjoyed just visiting with her about her life on the island. Penny is a down to earth person with a vast knowledge of Maui.

Great ValuePosted Jul 14, 2010
The overall stay was good. The B&B was clean and comfortable. It was walking distance to the ocean about about 2 miles from downtown Lahaina. Sometimes I wished it was just a touch closer to the downtown area. Penny, the owner, was nice though not particularly available while we were staying there because she was working on a condo I believe she is, or will be renting in Lahaina Shores. It's definitely a great value for the location, comfort and cleanliness though!
