Hotel Contessa - Luxury Suites on the Riverwalk

"Perfect hotel for the Riverwalk"
Something for everyone. The suites are spacious and comfortable, the lounge has great ambiance and the rooftop pool is great in the summer. Our only complaint is is dim lighting in the bathrooms - makes it really difficult to put on makeup!

"Pleasant stay at Mokara. INeedMoreRmforMyReview!"
I came here for to celebrate my bday with my boyfriend. I chose this hotel and spa based on the reviews and needless to say, I chose the best hotel in downtown San Antonio. Everyone starting from the bell boy was very professional and friendly. We were greeted with kindness. Our room was fantastic. We didn't have a great view, but I wasn't there for the view, rather the experience. Our room was very spacious, had a comfortable queen size bed, had a idea table/desk with plenty of room to eat our breakfast, and had a small chair in the corner. Our room had a bathtub with whirlpool capabilites and had a separate shower. Complimentary bath salt is included with the room and you have the option of calling a "Bath Butler" to draw your bath. The counter space in the bathroom was simply amazing. We had plenty of elbow room and space to lay out both of out toiletries. The toilet is in a separate room with a door so you can do your business while your significant other gets ready. All guests have complimentary tea and coffee. You can use Nespresso that is inside the room or call private dining to have a pot or cup of Peet's coffee brought to your room. Plenty of towels. Prompt room service. TV came with movie channels! While we were out of our room, house keeping made our bed, turned on our TV to relaxing music, and placed bottles of water and eye covers on both night stands. On the floor beside our bed were two complimentary slippers. Spa is a must. Superb steam room&sauna.

"Very nice resort hotel"
We stayed at the resort for 4 nights and really enjoyed the facilities. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are very comfortable, lovely golf course, and plenty to do for the kids. The staff are very friendly and made us feel incredibly welcomed. I loved the fact that they had a Starbucks on site! We were there from a Weds-Sunday and the pools were not crowded and clean up until Friday. Then it got incredibly crowded and the pools were pretty filthy (beer cans in the plants, white frothy foam in some corners of the pool, and leaves/mulch floating). They probably would benefit from more cleanings during the busy times. I understand that they are adding additional pools and slides for next year which will help accommodate more people. The room was very clean with the exception of the glasses in the bathroom which had lip marks all over them when we first arrived, so clearly not cleaned or sanitized. That was pretty gross, so I washed them myself before using them. The fitness facility is excellent and I enjoyed getting a quick workout in each morning. Overall, a very nice stay!

"Good hotel overall. "
I stayed there to be close to all of the down town attractions. The hotel bar was very nice. The room was ok. ...a bit outdated and did not appear very clean. There were smears and smudges on the tv and table tops. The staff was very friendly. I did not eat at the hotel restaurant as the menu was pretty pricey, and there are many places to eat nearby. I will stay there again. I'll ask to stay in one of the newer rooms.

Best and Worst Times to Visit San Antonio

Summer is the warmest and busiest time to visit San Antonio. Temperatures skyrocket above 90 degrees F, and vacationers flock to the region while their kids are on summer break. Because this time of year is so busy in the Texas city, rates are higher than normal.

For cooler temperatures and fewer crowds, consider visiting between November and April. January and February are generally the coldest time of year, but it usually doesn’t get cold enough to snow. March and April are perhaps the most comfortable as early spring brings temperatures in the 60s and 70s F.

    Things to Do

The Alamo is arguably one of the most famous attractions in San Antonio. During your next trip to town, check out this historic spot. Tour the museum, explore the Roman Catholic mission, and learn about the famous Battle of the Alamo. The San Antonio Missions National Historic Park is another spot where you’ll find four other missions. If you’re interested in discovering more exhibits in town, head to the Witte Museum for some Texas state history, or mosey through the contemporary collections at the San Antonio Museum of Art.

While you’re in town, get some fresh at the popular San Antonio River Walk. Running parallel to the San Antonio River, this scenic path is dotted with shops and restaurants. Saunter along the sidewalk or hop in a cruise along the river. Next, wake up and smell the flowers at the Japanese Tea Garden in Brackenridge Park, or picnic at Hemisfair. During you stay, venture over to the nation’s second oldest municipal park, San Pedro Springs Park, and don’t miss the hiking trails at Eisenhower Park. After a day filled with adventures, take it easy at one of the top resorts near San Antonio.
